Re-entering info after a hard reset

While I have enjoyed re-flashing and hard reseting every couple of days I am getting really tired of having to re-setup my pop3 e-mail and owner info and some other stuff I forget already.... does anyone know if there is s way to maybe build a cab or something to throw in the extrom so all that crap is setup after a hard reset?

thanx in advance

You might try some backup software that will save registry settings as well as some files. After you have flashed, reload your backup. I personally use SPB backup which lets you back up as little infor or as much as you like.

Try using the Sprite Backup. It backs up your entire phone including installation and registry

Owner info is in the registry, as is the items and order of the today screen
All the PIM info is in pim.vol, which can be copied out to storage card and then recopied back in, followed by a soft reset, after flashing with *very similar* OS versions (ie, if you are just making changes in your kitchen to add/remove OEMs, it will work fine - more iffy when moving from very different AKUs (2->3, no... WM5->WM6, I wouldn't trust it unless someone reports it works...)

Email is in a hidden part of the registry, so its more a pain to get backed up/restored. I played with some tools that supposedly back this info up, and they sorta work, but I just manually do it myself. You can back up SMS messages, again using some tool (the OEM for that one is in the kitchen)

(almost) EVERYTHING can be done through the registry. I've attached my rgu file that I use to make all the changes. It started with wanting to get rid of the PPCHacks OEM, so I went looking for the registry entries. It took off from the and now I have everything set, from owner information to my complete Exchange root cert and ActiveSync information. When I hard reset, the only thing I have to do is enter my Exchange password.

Keep in mind that these are all custom settings, but they are well documented so you can make your appropriate changes.

I figured it was mostly registry, but I haven't had the time to play with it... Thanks alot! I tried using backup programs and all that did was re-insert some problems I had before the flash/hard-reset...

Is there a simple way to create one of these RGU files? My setup is very different from yours and I'm not even sure which registry entries would be needed. I just started to modify it and realized that I would need a link to the TSK file I use- and I suppose that I would then need a way to insert that file into the ROM also... or would it be able to find it on the mSD card?

I remember someone made an OEM customizer for use with the kitchens that would create an OEM file to do all this stuff. Would that create such a file? [found the answer to this one. yes it does. I just created one using "test only".]
The next question is: What do you do with this file? How do you insert it into a ROM so that when a hard reset is done, you don't have to go through all the setup crap? It doesn't do me much good to have this file update the alignment and my information if I can't get to anything until I've done that after the hard reset/flash.

Trident,

Make an OEM out of this file. If you're using the newest 1.04 ROM, make and Optional_Trident'sRegTweaks folder. Create a new .rgu and .dsm file and copy all of your reg tweaks into the .rgu file. Save it as UNICODE, and rename with a new UUID. Make sure this UUID, however, is all "f"s so it is the very last OEM to be processed....that way you make sure no apps will overwrite your settings. Create your option.xml file and set as True (so you don't forget to check it when creating your ROM).

Now all of your reg tweaks are part of your ROM, therefore they are automatically processed with every hard reset.
