BT vs USB tethering

Well, i've been trying to find the answer to this question.
which way is faster BT or USB for Internet Sharing.

here's my test results. ran it a few times..

I'd be interested to know how you are getting speeds in the 500's via bluetooth. I thought bluetooth (1.0) topped out around 300 kbps. I always get around 280 tethering through BT on my phone. You are using an Apache?

BT 1.2 has a max of I believe 700kbps. So the 500 is very feasible.

The reason why the USB is higher, is because it's got a max of 480mbps, so USB will handle anything you can throw at it.

Even if your internet on your phone is 1.5mbps, using BT you will max at 700kbps, so you will be limited.

Remember, 700kbps, is about 75k-80k a second.

1.5mbps is 160k a second.

I think I had read somewhere that bluetooth 1.x had a top data rate of around 700-1000 kbps, but I figured that was more of a theoretical ceiling, something you wouldn't see in real life usage. Are other people getting speeds above ~300 kbps? I wonder why I've never been able to top 300 with any computer I've tethered my 6700 to over BT. I have tested back to back with BT and USB, and the bluetooth always sits around 280, when over USB I'm getting full speed (500-700 usually).

Oh, and I think that 480 Mbps stat is for USB 2.0. Apaches use a USB 1.0 port don't they?

I don't know what version of BT.
But i'm using the PPC6700 and Sprint EVDO
and the latest HELMI rom
