Confused - flashing the XV6700 to cricket.

Ok so i just got one and hvae been searching and searching. This doesn't seem to be very clearly defined. I've seen some places using a ROM to do it, but is that all you need. Then there's something about using an over the air method.

Do i just need to flash it with the rom and all is well, or what? I do not have a current cricket account now.

xv6700

There are a ton of post on how to make the Verizon xv6700 work with Cricket. Here is one from another forum that most of us don't use because they don't maintane the Cricket forum very well.

So what is the big deal about the cricket rom? So im assuming the rom has just to do with the phone itself and not the network? So am i right to say that you don't need the cricket rom to get it on the cricket netowrk?
