Opera browser issues

hello everyone using opera 8.65beta.

i'm using the latest beta version of opera browser and i am having some serious problems.

1) sometimes it will not start and states that i don't have enough storage memory. my storage memory is above 17M and myprogram memory is above 21M.

2) if it does start it will either lock my 6700 up or once closed will never reopen. plus if i do close it a lot of my other programs will not run until i do a soft reset.

3) storage card installation doesn't work at all.

4) if i use it for very long it uses up all available program memory and does not recover it on closing opera.

anyone else struggling with opera??

i'm running a pretty light 1.04 rom.

I also experienced those problems. It seemed like if any other program was running, or if Opera was installed to the SD, it would fail on load. Things that helped:

1) Install it to main memory
2) Check what other programs are running by going to start > settings > memory > running programs. If any other programs are running, kill them.
3) Use a program like HandySwitcher or X Button to close apps when you tap the X

brightedge,

thanks for the reply!

i do have it installed to the main memory and do not have any other programs running. i use spb pocket plus so that when i close a program it actually does close.

it seems like i can run opera right after a fresh soft boot but after that it will not work and if i did run it then a lot of my other programs will not start until i do another soft restart.

i read so many people talking about how great opera is but i just am not seeing it!

i realize pie plus 2.2 is not the greatest but it is very stable.

i love the look and feel of opera but the problems out way the bells and whistles.

i have also tried running 8.60 since i am a paid/registered user of the software but it even has more problems then the beta.

I was having the same issues...What ROM are you using?

I figured out that if there is alot of programs running in the background it will freeze up.

I recently cooked my own ROM using 1.0.4 and have not had any issues with it yet.

One of the biggest issues I was having was when I wanted Opera to be viewed as a real webpage and not mobile.

And honestly, even with the problems in the past, I have to believe Opera is still the best browser to date.

i'm using my own 1.04 rom.

i have noticed that if i take everything out of my startup folder, esspecially voicecommand and spb shell it does seem to run better. i would think with having over 21M of usable program memory that that would be enough for opera!!

Opera has not worked correctly ever since aku 3.x.

Best use for it: Use pie for everything except that which pie won't open, then use opera, then soft reset (as soon as you are done using it your system will become unstable)

I'm running Opera 8.65 beta with aku 3.5 from a storage card, and I'm not seeing any of those issues.

well the only issue I have is that over time Opera eats up alot of memory and it'll just close occasionaly when it does use all of the memory, but other programs do the same thing.

Opera

im running the latest opera on the latest verizon aku.
i have it installed onto the storage card.
no issues, but i do notice if you have any thing else starting up it is slow to BOOT up.

TIP: install Opera8 to your pc...IMPORT all your favorites from IE...the copy the OPERA6 file to your PPC...

i regularly open 3 tabs with opera.....soo much nice than PIE

just bumping the thread to see if anyone else had any input. it seems strange that it works well for some and not at all for others. i'm just trying to find a common link to the problems.
