White screen of death (WSOD).. Any help?

Phone: XV6700

So i was making a bunch of phone calls and the low battery warning came on. I put my phone away and went home. I forgot to charge my phone but my g/f found it and wanted to play some games on it. When she did she saw the screen was all white and brought it to me. I was using BigJ's custom rom so I thought a flash to the stock rom would be in order before i took it into a VZW shop and perhaps that would fix my problem anyway.. it didnt.

So now i have a WSOD and i cant seem to get it into bootloader mode. Every time i try it just turns off the phone and when it comes back on it is still WSOD. The thing is if you look at the screen at a extreme angle you can faintly make out what the screen is suppose to say. Since i reloaded the stock rom it is on the alignment screen once i turn it on.

Any ideas? I really dont want to have to go out and buy a new phone. Here are my ideas so far:

1. The phone is a 1.5 years old so maybe the battery is weak/dying and its time for a new one. I wish i knew someone with a 6700 close by so i could swap and see
2. Try really really hard to get through the original configuration (align screen, cut and paste) and get the phone to normal mode and then maybe then it will let me into bootloader mode.
3. Take the phone apart and see what i can find since i am pretty sure it is out of warrenty since i have had it for over a year.
4. Drop kick the phone out the window and pony up $300 for a new phone.

Edit: I have verizon

Did you get the insurance with the phone? I am not 100% positive, you may want to look into it, but I think the insurance covers failed LCD's..

It was flat rate $55 to have Sprint repair a broken PPC6700 when I was there a few weeks ago for my LCD problem (cut screen).

This thread already exists. In fact, you have posted on this thread. Why did you start a new one?

http://ppcgeeks.com/white-screen-no-...lay-t4353.html

As far as the white screen is concerned there is no software fix for the problem. The problem is with your LCD cable. Your cable has either been damaged or simply come loose. The only way to fix this is to take the phone apart and replace/reattatch the lcd cable (taking the phone apart voids the warranty) or take it to your carrier and get a replacement if still under warranty (which was mentioned by luv2chill in the other thread).

Oh, and there is already a thread for disassembly of the 6700 if you decide to take the phone apart, so please dont start one asking for disassembly instructions. Here they are.

Another guy said the battery was his problem. I tired it and it didnt fix it and there was no clear answer to the problem. I guess its time to dig into my baby and see what i can find.

EDIT:

Just to make clear what I said originally, there is no software fix for this issue UNLESS you are custom building your own rom/oems and/or you are editing things in the SYS folder (which the Walkthru says very specifically NOT to do unless you really really know what you are doing). And since you stated that things were working fine before and that you were just using BigJ's rom, not one that you custom built, I said that there was no software fix. I wanted to make this clear just in case someone else runs across this thread who is messing with the SYS folder/custom OEMs.

From the Walkthru included in the Kitchens:

"The next three errors are not an issue with this kitchen (1.0.0 and up). The previous kitchens would not
error when you went overlimit, and as such, you you would build up the ROM and never
know you were over size. Since this is no longer an issue, I will not be going into detail
on them. If this happens to you for some reason at this point, it’s safe to say that you
probably messed up something in the SYS folder, or one of your OEM packages
overwrote or bypassed something in the registry it should not have. They are…
- White Screen of Death
- Hanging on the Bootscreen
- Hanging on the second splash screen"
