In regards to the kitchen, you are selecting the prj file from the wrong folder. I caution about this in the sticky thread. You must have downloaded a previous kitchen at some point. When you go to the encode step, the prj file you chose is from the wrong kitchen folder. At that point you need to hit the folder up button and back out all the way to desktop or my computer. Then re-locate the correct kitchen folder's
\Tools folder. That will solve the missing ROM problem. |

Thanks for the prompt response. Funny, I used to live in Lawrence, KS...went to KU.
Anyway, I don't have a clue about your explanation for my error. Could you please tell me the required steps I need to take to upgrade to Helmi's latest rom? thanks |

Run BuildOS, select/unselect your options
Run BuildROM BuildROm will do a bunch of stuff Eventually, a popup will appear for Encode/Decode ROM Select Encode ROM a new popup, this time asking for a project file push the ... button this is where you follow Luv2Chill's instructions change the 'Look in' drop down list to Local Disk (C:\) (or keep hitting the folder up button until you're there) now start drilling down to where you installed Helmi's 1.04 kitchen select the tools folder in Helmi's 1.04 kitchen select your carrier push OK now you can continue as normal, and shouldn't have to repeat this process until a new kitchen is released. |

Re: Having problems upgrading Kirvin's or Helmi's new ROMs
Quote:
Your first problelm, the 103 error, is because the nk.nbf hasn't been copied into the same directory as the RUU utility. If you don't have a nk.nbf in the kitchen's temp directory, then your ROM didn't build for some reason and you need to figure out why. If you do have one there, copy it to the upgrades/RUU folder. As to the radio image transfer, neither Helmi's kitchen nor Kirvin's ROM contain the radio image, so your radio will be left alone - that's why it shows as blank in the RUU. |

I think maybe I assumed too much about your initial post. The Helmi ROM kitchen you downloaded is not a ROM--it's a framework for building your own ROM. That's why you got the error about the missing ROM--there isn't one until you build it.
Sounds like you're pretty new to this so for now maybe concentrate on trying to get Kirvin's or another one of the pre-built ROMs going. |
