how to load aku rom?

i have been wearing out the search buttons and simply cant find find a thread on how to install an aku rom on my 6700.

i have done the serial boot screen then turned to usb once cradled. then it goes through the steps of sayingnit is reading... then it goes to the finish screen and say to hard reset. i know it isnt connectingmto phone. nothing loads and i get the same result when there is no phone docked..

i know i must be missing something simple on how to load rom....
