Help a poor nOOb - Sprint 6700 to Cricket THANKS in advance

Okay, the more I search & read and try to fix my problem, the more confused I get.

Here is what I have done:

Got a Sprint 6700 in GREAT condition - $130!!!

Downloaded and unRAR'ed Helmi Official AKU 3.5 Kitchen, Release 1.0.4 (upd. 8/05/07)

Installed a minimal setup, avoiding a few apps that have been reported to cause some troubles

When I use BuildOS I pick Cricket as my carrier (I want this phone to work on Cricket) - No errors

I then run the batch file, everything goes well, no errors, I choose Sprint for the prl file

Soft Reset

Wow-Helicopters! Everything seems okay....

I call to activate, Cricket says: If you dial 611 and still get a Sprint error message, the phone is NOT flashed, they cannot activate. When I dial 611 I get "Your Account could not be verified, if you are a Sprint customer....."

SOOOOOO:

I have been trying to figure this out, I understand that Sprint doesn't use a generic MSL, do I need to even worry about this? If so, how do I get my MSL?

Also, the SID for my area (Denver, CO) is 5458, do I need to enter this info anywhere? If so where?

Do I need to dial *228 at any point?

Is *777 the "phone number" for Cricket data. Is this WAP or ???

I think that is about it. Any help would be appreciated and I promise to send good vibes your way.

Sorry for being such a noob when it comes to phones.
Give me a locked safe, no problem unlocking, apparently unlocking phones is another issue!!! LOL

This phone and the "Kitchen" is AWESOME! My thanks to all!

Thanks again!

First of all, the ROM itself is fine. The stuff it contains does not provision (and is not capable of provisioning) the phone part of your 6700 for a carrier. You have to do that part manually. See this thread for what you need to do:

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1129718

Yes you will need your MSL. There are several ways to get it but the easiest (available only in the last few weeks) is an application someone in the titan/mogul forum wrote. You will find it in this post:

http://www.ppcgeeks.com/help-unlocki...,60.html#66905

You need to copy two files over to your device--the app itself (use the version marked 2003) and the dll file. It doesn't matter where you put them on the device, anywhere is fine. Then run the app. In the top box you need to fill in your ESN HEX, which is the shortest of the three serial numbers printed on the barcode label under the battery... it's clearly marked ESN HEX and should be eight digits long--capitalize the letters like this:

12345ABC

Then click the button. If you did everything right then six digit number in the second box is your MSL. Use that to follow the instructions given in that hofo post and you should be good to go

Note that if the ##PST (talk) doesn't work, try ##PST#.

WAP?

Ok I have been trying for over 24 hours now, although I DID sleep!

Anyway, thanks to you all I am getting phone calls on my Sprint 6700 thru Cricket! YAY!

I still cannot get wap to work. I am using the above stated kitchen.

I do notice something interesting. When I go into ##778 I see:
M.IP Customer Profile1
M.IP Customer Profile2
M.IP Customer Profile3
M.IP Customer Profile4
M.IP Customer Profile5

They are mostly empty, my M.IP Default Profile has the old Sprint info in it, I am trying to make changes to that right now, but I am not sure what needs to be changed.

Any more help would be appreciated. I hope luv2chill has felt my good karma headed their way....

Hey, I am getting somewhere now! The modem DOESN'T error out anymore!

Now I get an error that looks like DNS problems to me....

HOLD ON....woo hoo IT IS WORKING! I don't even remember what I did....

But thanks! I stumbled through it.

Now to backup these settings!

I'm a day late and a buck short, but there's a writeup on how to modify the PST settings located at

http://cricketmafia.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?t=4

(You need to register to see the topic)

you can ignore everything except section 4, thanks to all the folks who contributed to the kitchen ROM's and building the cricket extrom into it.

You're on your own when it comes to changing the MSL, but luv2chill already hooked you up on that one.

For future reference, I'd recommend buying verizon or alltel phones if you're modding them to work on cricket.

WAP issues

When I first start IE it dials up fine, but it doesn't seem to reconnect if I try to access the internet later. It says it is still connected, but I think it timed out. Any ideas?

Thanks again, just downloaded Google maps....wooohoooo

OOPS forgot, also I seem to get mms, but the message itself isn't there, or I don't know how to open it. The download button is greyed, so I pull up the menu and try that way, nothing.

There is no gateway info in MMS Settings. Is that right for Cricket service?

Using arcsoft mms of course....

Good karma your way....

Good karma your way....

no gateway is correct...

Go into your connection settings (start ->settings, click the connections tab, then click connections icon)... click advanced, then select networks, make sure both fields are set to cricket, not to my isp or my work network...

Assuming you're connecting to WAP ok when you get a pic message, try clicking the message, and hitting the send/receive function to attempt downloading again... I usually have to try a couple times before the phone receives it successfully... I'm not sure why.

Also, bear in mind that cricket's web is currently VERY slow... an 80KB pic will take 15-20 seconds to download, so give it time.. don't get impatient and keep clicking send/receive every 5 seconds.
