Install Total Commander... then run it and at the top of the screen type in:
\Extended_ROM and hit Enter. That should take you to a new folder with a bunch of cab files in it. Copy those cab files to your storage card (if you have one) or just to "My Documents" on the PPC. Then connect your PPC to the computer and copy the files over with activesync. If you want, upload them to the ppcgeeks ftp (you'll need an FTP client) @ ftp.ppcgeeks.com (username: ppcgeeks / password: ezupload) and I can (eventually) make a package for you that you can use to put them directly into the ROM. Those files contain all of the provider-specfic stuff. So once you back that stuff up you're safe to install another ROM. |

another question
i extracted the extended rom, but it appears to be unchanged from the original sprint extended rom (the phone was a sprint phone that i'd activated on the Centennial Dominicana network)
These are the files that are included Sprint_Logo.bmp PPST_FILE_SPCS_1_19_003_with_PRL20224.sa.CAB DirectShow.sa.CAB RTPlugin_CDMA.sa.CAB Cert_SPCS.sa.CAB Cert_SPCS.CAB Fetch.CAB WTLAudiblePlayerPocketPC.arm.CAB AudibleSample.sa.CAB Getmail.ppc2003.ARMV4Rel.sprint.CAB sprint_software_store.CAB GetGL.CAB IOTA.sa.CAB Customize_SPCS.sa.CAB ButtonLock.sa.CAB Enable_RingTone.sa.CAB Disable_RemoveProgram.sa.CAB PhoneSetting_HelpFile.sa.CAB PowerICON.sa.CAB TimeSnyc.sa.CAB HiddenDurationPage.sa.CAB ResString.sa.CAB PP_IOTA_v1_10_Apache_206300.sa.CAB PP_ErrCodeForSPCS_Apache_206300.sa.CAB PT_RemoveHTCBatteryICON_Apache_206300.sa.CAB PP_Version_Apac_206303.sa.CAB PP_HTC_CM_Guardian_Apache_206300.sa.CAB PP_LockUp_Apac_212705.sa.CAB PT_Ril_Apac_206301.sa.CAB AddContacts.exe Should i bother to upload these to the ftp? is there another way i can back up the files? |

Oh, nah then nevermind. Did you physically bring your phone in and they took it and programmed it? Or did they tell you how to program it over the phone?
Mainly I think what you're interested in are the #777 settings. Most carriers just use a generic dialup connection with no proxy and no user name and password. You can check yourself by going to Start->Settings->Connections tab->Manage existing connections. That is assuming you use your 6700 for data. If all you do is voice calls then you don't need to save anything--your phone number and all the "phone stuff" is saved in a different chip than the one you're messing with when flashing the phone--this is by design so that you don't have to reprogram the phone every time you upgrade the ROM. |
