Ok so I just decided to try using my BT for my modem on my laptop. I already used the USB version and worked, so I decided to share my findings (I did a search and didn?t come across any thing, sorry if there was something posted on this prior).
Ok let?s get started first off make your 6700 discoverable:
Start> comm. manager
Click on settings tab> Bluetooth settings?
Check turn on Bluetooth then check on make discoverable. You may go into security and check Authentication (passkey) required
Now that?s done lets go to the PC side.
Start>control panel> Bluetooth Devices
In new window click on add. A new window will pop up and do a search for you device, once it is done click on the device that you want to add (if you clicked on authentication it will ask you for the key you put in your device).
Now it will give you an option to:
1. choose passkey for me
2. use passkey found in documentation
3. let me choose my own passkey
4. don?t use passkey
Once you made your choice click on next and it will install services that device offers, then click finish (I chose don?t use passkey since I like things easy).
Now back to Bluetooth device window click on the device> properties> services> check Dial-up networking click on ok.
Next is creating a new connection:
Start> control panel> internet options
Internet options window:
Connections Tabb (on top)> add
Check on dial up networking> next> check Modem ? standard modem over Bluetooth link (COM 4)> next> #777 (for number)> next> (name)> finish (no password needed
Dial up connection settings:
Do nothing click on ok
Brings you back to internet options connection settings window I would ether click on:
? never dial a connection
? dial whenever a network connection is not present
Start> connect to> the connection that you named
Click on dial. That should be it
I didn?t need to activate the wireless modem, like the USB version and didn?t need to add any files to do this
Just incase on you mobile device
Start> programs> wireless modem
Click on dropdown Bluetooth then click on start
Then on pc side open dialup manager and click on dial
Oh ya before I forget, my speeds are: through USB down 509 & up 105, through Bluetooth down 354 & up 68. So if you don?t mind the cables I recommend the USB (2.0) it?s much faster but I like the ease of Bluetooth (no wires). Also I wasn?t able to receive calls with this running like the USB.
This is the first time I?ve done a write up so hope I did a good job and hope I helped somebody with this.
