Thanks everyone... and it looks like I may just have started something. Glad everyone can use this... not that I found it, but I DID ask the question that started everything!

As I said in the OP this isn't for me... it's for someone at the Alltel HoFo board. He's going to try it and report back and I will pass that along to you. I don't have any use for it since I do just the opposite... I want my phone to always stay connected (about every 5 minutes something or other on my phone needs to connect).

If anyone's curious, the reason this came up is a "quirk" involving an Alltel 6700. When roaming on Sprint's EVDO, if he is connected for 20 minutes or so when he is inactive and then tries to use the data, it fails and times out even though it appears to be connected. Then he has to disconnect and reconnect and things are good. I've noticed the same thing on the rare occasion that I roam on Sprint.
