ActiveSync woes

Okay, I'm having a pretty annoying issue. I just recently replaced my PPC6700 via insurance and I can't get the new one to connect to my PC to activesync. (the old one connected fine)

I've tried uninstalling activesync (including cleaning up the registry and partnerships) and reinstalling. I've tried multiple reboots (both the PC and the device). I've tried running the ActiveSync troubleshooter to no avail, it just directs me to this (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=65257) page which offers no workable solution. Before the question is asked, yes USB connections are enabled. I've tried searching for a possible solution and can't find anything beyond what I've already done.

The odd part is, it shows up in the Windows Device Manager, and it says it successfully installs everytime I've uninstalled activesync (and thus the drivers). It still charges via USB, but ActiveSync just can't connect to it.

I'm using Windows XP SP2 and the latest and greatest (ha) official Sprint ROM (only because I can't connect to upgrade....grrr). Any help or insight anyone can provide is appreciated.

Have you tried a different cable? Sometimes I have had this problem and switching cables solved it.

Ok, I feel like an idiot. I disabled my firewall but, I never saved the settings, so I thought it was off, but it really wasn't. After actually quitting out of all my security software it finally worked...

Ugh...
