This is when it's plugged in - nothing (no lights flashing) appear when it's not connected.

What happens when you hard reset? Be very specific.

After I hard reset (press the two front buttons and the thing at the bottom with the stylus). It says "Press Y to restory factory defaults" or Press N to exit. I press Y and and it "clears now." Then it goes to the skull with all the rom information and then eventually goes to a white screen and then back to the skull. It continues on like this.

What changes did you make before you first experienced the problem?
I didn't change anything. It was working that night and it wouldn't turn on in the morning.

Is there anything at all displayed on the screen? Look closely (screen may be very dim)

When I take it off the connection - it goes completely blank.

How do I do bootloader mode? Thanks again for all the assistance.

Power button + Cassette tape button (top left side) + soft reset. Hold the two buttons down first, then put the stylus in the reset hole. Then look under a strong light at the screen--should say Serial on it.

You can then flash the original Sprint ROM on it (download at www.utstar.com)

Also consider a bad battery as the culprit.

i had that happen to my sprint 6700. it wasn't the battery, but the battery connection in the phone (i.e. on the motherboard). i tried 3 batteries and none worked. i went to the store and they said here is a replacement.

It still doesn't detect the device, so I can't flash.

Well try to get a hold of another battery. Barring that maybe you have a bad/intermittant charging port.

so, it doesnt go into bootloader mode?

if that is the case....you are going to have to use your insurance and say you LOST the phone, DO NOT Bring it in to them....(they will try to bill you because of custom software and any little annoyance that we can think of).

Does your phone go into Bootloader?

What OS are you running?

Try bootloader without plugging your phone it (it should say SERIAL at the top with the screen very very dimmed) then plug your phone into the USB, and see if your OS recognizes it at all. It may not load activesync/wmdc, but it should still recognize it. If it doesnt let me know and I can give you some different drivers to try.

If it does recognize it, after bootloader -> then plug-in, follow luv2chills advice and flash to stock ROM.

If none of this works, then luv and skyline are probably correct in assumung it is hardware related and the phone or battery needs to be replaced.

I was able to get back the custom sprint rom. It still cycles on and off, but only every 10 minutes now, as compared with every 10 seconds with the other. Once it's off the external powersource, it goes black as before.

I'm guessing this is an indication the battery is bad. Do any local places sell batteries for this? Or is this something I should buy over the internet?

personally, i would flash the stock sprint rom, and then take it to a sprint store.
