Help?

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this, so if it is in the wrong place please move it to the correct one. ANyway I just got a Verizon 6700 and I would like to know what the benifit of a custom rom is, and should I even bother with it, and if i should can you tell me what it would do and then which one would be best for me. I would be very greatful for any help thank you very much.

i'm by no means an expert, but i know one of the main benefits in my brief experience in the world of rom customization has been the upgrade from plain old Windows Mobile 5, to Windows Mobile 5 with the Security and Messaging feature pack. It adds some stability (not quite Windows Mobile 6 level, but better than plain old 5).

Beyond that, it affords you much more customization on the installed programs front. Especially when using one of the kitchens, you can literrally pick and choose (via checkboxes) what you do or do not want installed, and when you're done, it even kicks off the loading screen (probably the wrong terminology) so all you have to do is plug in your phone in bootloader mode, and click OK.

Everyone on here is really helpful, but I've found that I learn the most when I roll my sleeves up and "roll my own." I'm not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination and am quite dependant on the help of fellow board members, but once I've determined that I have the right software, installer, rom, etc (ie - I'm not likely to brick my phone), I like to get in there and blow the thing up periodically, if for nothing else, to see what life is like on some other setup.

Sorry so long!
