Oh crap . . . iPhone can do something USEFUL our 6700 can't

Someone figured out how to share the iPhone's data connection over WiFi. I know, mostly pointless, but would be so cool to be able to do. See link for more.

We can do this. At least my XV6700 can. I use it all the time. Wmodem and bluetooth. It is set up as a dial-up connection over bluetooth under network connections with approx. 950 kb/s connection.

I'd really love to see an app that could route and nat IP, run a DHCP server, and assign an SSID to the WiFi. That would be the holy grail. Then I could just launch this app on the phone and connect with my laptop using a standard wifi profile.

Really? Thats kind of interesting since the BT 1.1 used by the Apache is hardware limited to around 350kb/s...

... making the phone a WiFi hotspot.

It's been talked about for a while, and I agree that it would be the grail. Unfortunately, it's apparently not possible. Luv2Chill posted this a while back:

http://www.ppcgeeks.com/using-my-apa...135.html#39311

which explains why. Closest I have gotten is to tether my phone to my laptop and then set up Internet Connection Sharing on the laptop to share via WiFi to other WiFi laptops.
