Ok I'll try reinstalling the "APA_SPCS_20600_303_12700_WWE_Ship.exe" one a couple more times & let ya know how it goes...

One thing I just noticed...I DO hear a beep from the external speaker on hard-resets....and I DO hear static when tryin to use the external speaker too - so now Im wondering if it IS a software issue...freakn pain in the butt...geeze

Same for me. Occasionally, at random the sound will not work at all, either through the speaker or earpiece, including through a soft reset, until something is plugged into the port again.

Which is why I always test the sound using the volume slider beeps after unplugging a headset or headphones from the port, so that I'm not stuck later without sound and without an adapter and headphones to fix it. Just another of the endless annoyances and problems with this phone.

Think I'll let it install the offiical AKU one more time then go drink a beer or ten and see if it's magicly come back to life or not.
Phone prolly wont work but I wont give a shit anymore..ha (at least until I wake up with a hangover...)

hi I have been lurking , waiting and hoping that a solution would be found. my sound has not been working for several. I have done a lot od googling on his issue and most of the answers state that the connection to the headset plug does not fully close after headphone being removed and that sometimes jiggling the pin helps......well that has NEVER solved my issue.

Maybe someone who is not having this problem can provide us with some insight.

I find it hard to believe it is hardware because when signal is lost I am able to hear the signal lost beep

bluetooth sound works fine and mine and when I plug in headphone I can hear sound well.

voicecalls are working fine

Now I read somewhere that there are two speakers. one that is unfindable or something like that.

another thing is that v2r Active UI program give me an error when I press normal or vibrate within the extras tab.....now I don't know if the error is related ti active ui or my phone but the error states that mute.exe is missing .....is this a file we are supposed to have ?

sorry if I gave tmi but I know this is a common problem. there has to be someone out there that has a solution....

delsadarline - your problem sounds a little different than mine. In my case the bluetooh and the headphones don't work either - the ONLY sound that works is the earpiece used when making calls - which is still useless to me because by mic doesn't work either.

I think I'm just screwed and going to have to buy another phone.

Well I've tried everything I can think of...I'm giving up on this 6700 - guess its just broken.

I'm leaving now to head off to a sprint repair center and see if they can do anything for me. I'll let ya all know how it went when I get back.

(fingers crossed - hopefully they'll be nice and give me a replacement one).

I periodically run into this problem on mine, most recently on a day when, awesomely, I had forgotten to bring my BT headset to work. Usually plugging and unplugging a wired headset a few times fixes it, sometimes it just fixes itself on it's own for no apparent reason. usually not an issue as i'm always on a BT headset, but annoying those times I forget it.

Well guys - my trip to the Sprint store went better than I expected.

The tech (who actually KNEW what the hell he was doing) did some diagnostics on the phone and sure enough it was a hardware problem...so bad news is the phone is indeed toast.

But...the GOOD news is that despite the fact I don't have insurance and have had the phone for like 18+ months - for $55 they replaced it with a BRAND NEW phone. Well considering the one I had was a refirbished one to start with and it was only 55 bucks - hell I'm happy!

So now I gotta brand new 6700 and I'm only out 55 bucks.

Guess its time to start loading the sucker up with the new radio and kitchen...

Anyway thanks everyone for trying to help me fix it.
