Well excuse me for living because I'm a PPC noob and you're an "elitist." Get over it.

I'm not defending newbies in any way (nor am I trying to continue this newbie discussion), but its always going to happen. Why? Because they're noobs!

I'm not a newbie basher... I just really think its retarded when someone pops in the forum for the 6700 and asks if our radio will work on the 6800. Same with someone who doesn't know how to flash screwing around with the radio. They should try out some fully-complete custom ROMs first, learn their device some more, and only then think about messing with the radio.

Kind of on the same lines of how I think that anyone that flashes their 6700 from Vista is looking for trouble.

shogunera 09-25-2007 04:37 PM

Well im just happy I didnt brick the damn thing(my first time messing with tweaks). My signal stays at a strong 3 bars in some places it goes down to 2 and in others the bar just goes all the way up. I'm a noob so if could do it all you noobs out there could do it. Just follow the instructions.

Radio 1.41 upgrade did help me!

I recently had the chance to test out the 1.41 radio upgrade -- I live in an area where the cell coverage is somewhat lacking -- one section of my drive home my phone used to cut out because of the mountains in the area. Yesterday I spent driving the whole part of my drive on the phone and didn't have any drops or other issues.

Guess that the 1.41 upgrade does work as advertised.......at least for me.

Tomn8tr 09-26-2007 11:47 AM

OK, I had the same Bluetooth/ GPS problems others had posted here. My Garmin GPS 10 worked great until I did the radio upgrade. I downgraded to 1.27 to test and it HARD RESET!

Going to weigh options here for a minute....

Tomn8tr 09-26-2007 12:44 PM

since my PPC hard reset while rolling the radio back to test the GPS, I reloaded my GPS software, setup the GPS and tested with the older 1.21 radio - worked fine.

Next I reloaded the 1.41 radio, hard reset and now my GPS is again working with WM6, but this time with the 1.41 radio.

In my case a hard reset is necessary to get the GPS running after the radio upgrade.

funny thing....same thing happened to me yesterday. I've been having a BT headset problem for awhile now. Intermittently, the first 3-8 sec of a outgoing phone call would be skipping. I thought it was something to do A2DP on the 1.0.4 kitchen but I had the same problem on WM6.

I downgraded the radio to 1.27 yesterday, so far every call has been good.

hypeo 09-26-2007 10:05 PM

Updated to the latest Radio 1.41 and I didn't see any improvements. We don't have EVDO here but I'll keep you guys posted. I had to upgrade the phone with an XP machine. Vista could not do the upgrade. Phone is working great...

Props to all that have contributed to these wonderful upgrades.

kilmarac 09-27-2007 08:28 AM

Would the Mogul be able to use the Radio update, or should it already be there? Ive noticed in major metro areas where I should be getting full bars, and Im not. It actually sits at 2-3 bars and fluctuating between EVDO and 1x.

I have tried to upgrade a number of times following you instructions to the letter and I continually get the same error as follows:

ERROR 150: ROM UPGRADE UTILITY ERROR
This ROM Upgrade Utility in not designed for your device. Please get the proper ROM Upgrade Utility and try again!

I left it plugged in and tried again immediately after getting the error but it did not work again.

Any suggestions?

Problem solved. The updater is not compatble with Windows Vista. I did the update from an XP mchine and it worked fine......

hypeo 09-27-2007 03:46 PM

Update works well. I have 2 or 3 bars where I would usually get no service or hardly any service..

mtnmedic 09-30-2007 03:30 PM

Uh-oh!

First of all, great contribution!

So I followed the instructions. I connected the phone to my USB cable. Then I unpacked the new radio software to a local folder. Then I put the phone in bootloader mode. Got "USB", etc. Ran the exe (saw status on both phone and PC), went through the process and then did the suggested soft reset.

As the phone booted up, the HTC splash screen reports radio version 1.41. Good. Then the phone continues to the WM6 splash screen.

And there it stays. I've tried soft re-sets a couple of times but nothing. Just stays there.

Thoughts? What's wrong here?

UPDATE:

Nothing seemed to work. I thought perhaps to flash the radio down to 1.27 (I originally was at 1.10, I think) to see if perhaps it was the 1.41 that my WM6 install didn't like. The file I found had an automatic hard reset programmed in it and thus the phone did fine but I pretty much have it working again. So...I did the 1.41 upgrade and then the soft reset with no problems. I live up in the hills and get a relatively weak 1x signal there. I'll report on the performance of this new radio version shortly.

NSO 10-01-2007 03:21 PM

My 6700 sill at 1.14.00 for the radio this is normal, the intallation said almost finish and I retry with a hard reset nothing he still at 1.14.00

michiganbroadband 10-04-2007 06:07 PM

Need older radio firmware

Hey!
I'm noticing that all *newer* radio firmware seem to have AGPS totally
turnned off.

On older radio: 1.2

I'm able to get AGPS coordinates from Verizon by running fieldtrial and
dialling out to "922"

We have ONE phone with older radio firmware and its the only phone this works on.

It works on EVERY other phone we have access to that *is not* a 6700

So I'm looking for where to get the 2.x firmware?

See: http://stuff.michiganbroadband.com/xv6700-gps/ for photos of
this in action.

Any ideas?
Thanks!
Steve

mastercko 10-04-2007 07:05 PM

argh, had to hard reset (on soft reset, it froze on the WM splash screen). I didn't backup PIM and SMS cuz I figured, "I won't need to hard reset, right?" (using helmi's WM6). D'oh! Always backup!!

Anyway, it seems to be working well now. I'll test it when I get home (where my signal is worse than work) to see if the quality has noticably improved.

shunja 10-04-2007 07:13 PM

After update from 1.27 to 1.41 lost 1 bar on average, but gained the battery life significantly. Going back to 1.27

christianpeso 10-05-2007 06:13 PM

Took the dive...

Was hesitant at first about updating radio to 1.41 after reading the ups and downs of updating, but I said "**** it" and went ahead and did it yesterday. Worked excellent! After soft reset, phone booted up and then froze on main screen. Did soft reset again and everything is working lovely! Reprogrammed phone with *228 something else, and I have at least 1-2 bars more wherever I go. I take the train here in Atlanta and I even get a faint signal now underground! Love it. For the record, I have a Verizon XV6700 with Helmi_c's wm6 rom. Now with radio 1.41. Thanx for the upload of the 1.41 radio!!! Much appreciated!!!

Are you running the program in Vista or XP. I dont think it will work in Vista if you are.

cjkeeme 10-08-2007 04:39 PM

I'm running Hemi's WM6 release and my radio version is 1.05.00. My carrier is Cricket.

Has anyone or does anyone know if this upgrade is successful with Cricket? If not, what is the best radio for me to upgrade to?

EtherealRemnant 10-09-2007 02:14 AM

Radios aren't carrier dependent... but how do you have a 1.05 radio? I've never heard of that radio version before unless that's the original radio.

Alives 10-09-2007 02:18 AM

How do you tell what version radio you have already?

i somehow lost my radio is there a force reinstall i cant get back withany uu or kitchen

Slapshot2286 11-11-2007 09:28 PM

Why is this update taking longer than 15 min. on my phone? I'm used Helmi's WM6 Kitchen and I tried installing this but its stuck on "Checking information on your device." Haven't tried restarting it yet, just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem.

So, when you reset your phone what does it say down at the bottom?

Do you have a line that says "R: NONE"? or does it say something like "R: 1.27.00"?

If it says "R: NONE" chances are your radio has died. This is a hardware problem, not a software one.

mlevin77 12-16-2007 09:44 AM

"disconnect/time" hack doesn't work any more - because of radio?

I don't know if this is because of upgrading to the new radio or to Phoenx06's C&S ROM but this hack

Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click ControlPanel
Click Phone
[at this point, the buttom grey status bar should read \HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone'
Click the bottom menu 'edit'
Select new dword value
Change the value name to "Flags2" (no quotes).
Select the 'hexidecimal' button.
Type 10
Click ok.
You should now see in the 'name/data' section:
Flags2 16 (0x00010)
When done, reset the device

no longer works. My Flags2 value says 16, but holding down on the network icon at the top doesn't give me a duration nor an option to shut it off. Ideas?

Mike

Stuck at 0% and finally fails out. I'm having problems with the radio on my 6700 and really hope this will fix it. For the past day or so I have been getting no service to the phone... or service for a few moments.

I was able to install Kitchen just fine on this PPC-6700 (alltel)

I'm erroring out Error: 114 Radio Rom Update Error ;(
