The new verison I gave you has a different RUU. There is no way the pictures can be the same. Be sure to download the one saying "v1.00 with NoID". I am about ready to close down the ROM. I don't know why there are so many RUU issues...

Yeah I tried it, damn it is slow as hell! Hopefully MSFT will be able to fix it up a bit and reduce resource. Feels more like Windows Vista and the Aero -_-

Re: PDAJ's Clean WM6.1 ROM

I installed this last night and it went very smoothly. However, I'm seeing a couple of odd things: First, my data connection arrows are constantly white. (active) My phone and data connections are working, so I'm not sure if this is just a display issue, or if it's actually "doing" something. Secondly, roughly every 5 minutes or so, the screen just turns on for no reason. Odd.

Any ideas? Thanks,

PS: the Rom does seem quite fast.

Re: PDAJ's Clean WM6.1 ROM

Whoaa, more bugs: During an incoming call it's sometimes impossible to actually answer the call - hitting the "answer" button doesn't do anything. Interestingly, incoming calls seem to always cause a missed call notification to fire, even if you DO answer the call.

Also, when you get an incoming call (and are able to answer it) it sometimes turns the speakerphone on.

I can't be the only person seeing this...? Unfortunately I have to wipe this ROM now, it's just not usable.

Never had that issue. But, did you hard reset after flashing was done and phone was still in bootloader? Or just soft? Also, I put the Vogue dialer in there just in case you ever need carrier codes. You might wanna change out the dialers. And also, adding RAM hungry programs can mess you up too, as we know with all WM devices...

Yes, I did a hard reset right after loading the new ROM, just as the installer instructed me to do. I haven't added any apps, this is bone stock. What about the data connection arrow problem? Do you not have that issue either?

How would I change out dialers? Thanks,

eagle

Hmm. Try doing another hard reset. It is a pretty well knwon WM bug though, WM phones aren't the best at getting calls... As for the data connection, it might be the set of grpahics set for different states of data. Not sure, I don't use em much as I have S2U2 & WA.

You can download custom dialpads from here. There are many, I use DcX iPhone Dial pads. Nice and stable.

Oh and search around for my regedit on stoping the phone from turning off after 5 mins. That is on all new ROMs, very anoyying but I posted a fix for it somewhere.

No, I've been using various WM phones for quite a few years and I've never seen anything like this. This is happening on almost 50% of incoming calls - something is very wrong.

All of these problems - including the data connection arrows - could probably be explained by a bad dialer. If I find some time I'll try downloading a new one. Is that just a standard CAB file install? Or is some hacking necessary to install an new dialer?

As for the screen thing, so all new ROM's just make the screen randomly turn on every 5 minutes??

It is a cab you install, search around, there are many dial pads. As for the screen situation, yes it is in the new builds, it doesn't just "randomly turn off", but rather to save power. If you don't want to use it you can disbale it in the registry. I have had many WM phones that aren't the best at getting calls, mainly Pocket PC phones, as Smart Phones are not as powerful.

No, not OFF - ON. My screen turns ON randomly every 5 minutes or so.

So based on your posts I take it you're not using the dialer that you built into this ROM?

hey , i notice here: http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/6.1.4/index.htm it says that there is a Windows Mobile 6.1.4, which does adds Mobile IE6 zoome, desktop/mobile view and others

Is there any plan for you(or any1 else) to make a ROM or sumin of this version [Please include Windows Update if you can]

Or when is it being released?

Re: PDAJ's Clean WM6.1 ROM

@eagle63: That is weird, do you have any programs set to update every 5 mins? That could cause it. ANd no, I don't use the Vogue Dialer, I use these ones.

@windows61: I could put that into the build, but I HATE that IE, it runs terible, if you want that then use Skyfire...

@zfactor: You're talking about HTC Home Plugin. I use that, but I tihnk I left out to get as clean of a ROM as posbile. You can download a cab for that here. As for the MMS, you might want to download a carrier cab, search in Google for DCD's carrier cabs. This ROM was Generic, so your carrier stuff might not be set up properly. If that doesn't resolve it, send me a message.

Re: PDAJ's Clean WM6.1 ROM

@PDAPhoneJunkie:
I may have figured out the problems with the dialer, but I'm going to hold off on that for now until I do more testing. (installing a new dialer wasn't the fix)

However, my final problem that I can't get resolved is data. I just spent an hour on the phone with Sprint lvl 3 tech support because for some reason I can't get the data service to provision correctly. If you go into the phone app, then menu --> options --> services tab --> internet --> get settings, you will see a "start" button to initiate the IOTA. (I think all sprint smartphones have this) Anyway, when I press start nothing happens. My questions is: did you include an IOTA cab file in your install?? The fact that nothing happens when I press "start" in that screen makes me wonder if we're missing that program.

Thanks again for all the help.

I am not a Sprint customer... I have never heard of any IOTA programs like that. The Data works fine on my device. I can make a Sprint ROM just for you, but that program is not an option in kitchen... Let me know if you want a Sprint ROM.

Ahh, maybe that's the problem. Just for the record, I ended up flashing back to the latest "official" Sprint ROM today, which did a couple of things: first, it upgraded my radio version from 1.12 to 1.27. Secondly, it allowed me to reprogram all the necessary data stuff with Sprint. Then I flashed back to your ROM. (version 1.00 noID) Things are better in that the data now works, but incoming phone calls are still acting a little screwy. Sometimes I can answer the phone just fine, and other times it freezes for a bit and just gives me a missed call notification.

So with that said.... if you have the time and inclination, I'd love a Sprint-specific version of this ROM. (aside from the telephony problems, the ROM seems quite fast and stable) However, I also understand if you'd rather not - it's your time and you don't owe me anything. :) Thanks,

Yeah I should have told you that with Sprint ESPT stuff doesn't work in custom ROMs. I can build in another dialer. I really think that could help. Gimme some time. After I'm done working I will build and upload.
