I thought I was pretty good at working with the inside of my Apache. After taking it apart to clean the circuit board under the front buttons, I had a pretty good handle on disassembly and reassembly. BUT I'm banging my head against the wall now.
I bought a used Apache that was not functioning, but had an outer casing in excellent condition. I decided to switch the innards of the Craigslist phone and my phone. After the switch, my screen will not work. When I turn on the phone, the screen turns on and is all white! It makes noises associated with booting up, and after a few minutes, it is recognized by activesync, and I can explore the file system through the computer.
After hours of searching the internet to see if anyone else had this issue, I found a posting where someone had a similar white screen issue, but could tilt the screen and faintly make out some things on the screen. So I tried it, and mine does the same thing.
So in summary...
- I moved the insides of my working ppc6700 to a new (used) case
- My screen no longer works - it just shows a white screen - though the device seems to be operational still
- When I tilt the phone, I can make out lines that change when I press the windows key or slide the phone open.
Anyone have ANY ideas? I've taken the phone apart probably ten times re-checking every screw and cable, and everything is in order. Please?
