Preventing the sliding keyboard from turning on power?

I have been searching the forums of every PPC site I know of, "googled", spent hours searching the registry and have come up empty with a solution to my problem.

Is it possible to prevent the sliding keyboard from powering on the Apache?

I have a very nice Naztech case that uses magnets to stay closed and it always turns on my XV6700 thinking that the keyboard is open and places the screen in landscape mode.

I have a feeling I am fighting a losing battle with this... can anyone put me out of my misery or better yet, if there is way... please let me know.

I experienced this on many cases. The one I have right now, the Pocket Solutions vertical holster, does this too. Worst thing about it that the magnets actually draw power from the phone.

I used acbPower to gauge the battery usage for 5 minutes in suspend mode while outside the case and inside the case. Even if the magnets does not trigger the keyboard, they still drain the battery more.

So I sliced open the holster from the inside and removed the magnets. It's not that easy because they are glued. Then I used industrial velcro to keep the flap closed. Now my battery drain inside the holster is the same as when outside =)

Haha this started happening to me too when i bought a generic case on ebay for my phone. I thought my phone was going crazy until i realized it was the case. Thankfully i got a new "original" case so it doesn't do that anymore.

However, I also would like to know if it is possible to make it so my phone doesn't turn on when i slide the keyboard out.

Yup, I had this problem... Only solution, rip out the magnets of the case, or get a different case....

wow are you serious, wow, thats why half the time i take out my phone out my holster the screen is on, its the 4 maganets the case has, wow, thats why my battery dies so fast, wow, thanks a million, they should put this info on the top so everyone knows, i took out the magnets of the case, turn off my phone, and just touch the phone with the magnet and the screen turns on, without touching a single button, wow, thanks, i am going right now to the store and get me a piece of velcro, thanks
