Teach me to fish!

I am a new user and have a 6700, that Alltel suckered me into getting. Well anyway I am locked in for 2 years now and I have to make the best of it. I do like the phone but wish I could do more.. Is there a site or a way to learn on my own about cooking and what the hell a kitchen is, and why this thing has a cab..
I have seen what you guys can do with these things and you guys are awesome. I do know a little but not alot, so just some helpo getting started would be appreciated..

You can try captian yeager's rom to start. His roms are for alltel because that's his carrier and it is very stable. Then start reading, especially the wiki. There is a lot to read.
