Couple 6700 questions

Can you get the backlight to turn on when you flip the phone on or do you have to press a button? and can you turn off the message sent notification to where its silent and keep your texts to vibrate?

Since your second Q is already answered, lemme ask you a Q about your first one. What kind of 6700 do you have that you flip? LOL

You have to press a button to get it to turn on but Im sure you already know this.

Re: Couple 6700 questions

There is nothing on the 67 that will activate the backlight when sliding it open because there is no magnetic switch or contacts in the device to notify it it being slid open. This was tried and discussed long before you likely came along but overall you answer is it cannot be done. Sry

Although you have more time and experience with the 6700, I am going to disagree with you. There MUST be a way for the device to notify that it is being slid open because the screen orientation automatically switches to landscape.

Now, is the ability possible when the phone is in a suspended mode? I don't know. Assuming that it is, wouldn't it be possible to have an application hook into that event and act accordingly (ie, turn the backlight on) ?

Re: Couple 6700 questions

software would do it yes but only if hardware notified it of is change in position or status. Thats why on the newer devices you see magnetic switches. We had some guys far above me who were trying to do this and came to the conclusion it couldnt be done. Sry.

Those right there are fighting words. We try to help n00bs around here and them coming back insisting they're right makes people wanna say, "fine let them figure it out on their own."

If you want the backlight to turn on when you slide it, play with S2U2. There are some settings to unlock the screen when kb is opened, effectively turning on the back light. It's kinda ghetto, but it WILL do what you want in a round about way...
