Recently Refurbished Apache hangs on splash screen when cooking any ROM.

Good afteroon forum,

I have a problem that I really hope someone can help me out with. I recently received a refurbished Apache from the Sprint store and want to cook the most recent version of WM6.1, but no matter what I try I cannot get it to boot past the splash screen. I'm using bootloader v2.02 and have followed the directions on other posts to remove the battery for a min or two and hard reboot, but to no avail!!! I'm not new to the ppcgeeks kitchens or BuildOS, I've cooked up almost every version of ROM on my old device since Helmi's WM6.0 ROM a while back with no problems. I've even tried just building the selection ROM without any additions. One of my selections that I had installed on my OG phone doesn't even work. This phone is nothing short of a paperweight without the WM6.1 functionality, at least to me. Can Sprint lock down phones so custom ROMs can't be installed??? I have tried almost every option imaginable to get this to work using my booloader of course but also using other versions as well, setting my RUU to standard and NoID, stripping the ROM down to the bare minimum and using previously successful selections as well. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thanks for your help.

Re: Recently Refurbished Apache hangs on splash screen when cooking any ROM.

Usually when you see the white screen at bootup it means you have cooked a ROM that is too big for the Bootloader. A long time ago the BL versions were smaller but the size of them were bigger. As time pass the version numbers increased and the size of the decreased. My suggestion would have been (for testing purposes only unless you like it) to cook a ROM that is "clean and simple" meaning nothing in it but the "OS" itself and try that to see what you get but you sau you have already tried that. Can you go back to the OEM ROM to see it that will at least work? I know you dont wanna keep that ROM but try to just to see what you get.

Re: Recently Refurbished Apache hangs on splash screen when cooking any ROM.

I've tried a clean 6.1 ROM and am currently running on my stock OEM just fine. I get past the white screen and to the splash image with the ROM and Radio info at the bottom. It just won't boot past that screen. Thanks

Re: Recently Refurbished Apache hangs on splash screen when cooking any ROM.

Update, I was able to successfully flash the old Helmi 6.0 ROM. Tried flashing to 6.1 (20755) afterwards and got the same situation, even when building the OS only. Stuck on the boot splash screen. Tried removing the battery and have waited for up to 30 minutes again but it never leaves the boot splash with the red text at the bottom. The 6.0 ROM boots up very quickly. Why does my phone not like 6.1? The Apache runs great on 6.1. It's almost like it doesn't like the kitchen because I can install from EXE. I know PPCGeeks don't produce executables any more, but if anyone out there knows where I can get one for WM6.1 please point me in the right direction.

Yeah, install that Axim ROM from ErinatSprint and kiss your Apache's @$$ goodbye.

What build are you attempting to load on your Apache?

Re: Recently Refurbished Apache hangs on splash screen when cooking any ROM.

Final update: I uninstalled BuildOS and reinstalled twice, the second time I manually downloaded the files instead of running the updater and successfully flashed to 20931. Thanks to all for your help and ideas, my Apache is now running like a dream once again.

Hi WM, I'm glad it's working now! Derry, actually I don't have a bb, I have an LX400, I need Direct Connect to make test calls. The phone type you see was assigned automatically by the program that finds threads and assigns them to me.
