Can't figure out how to use HT820 to control TCPMP

I want to use TCPMP or Mortplayer to play music on my new HT820 headphones. The problem is I can't figure out how to get them to controle the player. They work fine with WMP. Additionally, the only way that I can get TCPMP to play in stereo is to start up a song first in WMP. I stop it and start up TCPMP and it will play in stereo.

If I can't do this I will have to use WMP. The problem there is I would like to have a preamp or equalizer or something to help improve the audio. I've been searching the internet to find some kind of plugin for WMP mobile 10 but can't find anything.

Any help would be appreciated.
