Unhappy Apache dead? Or just the battery?

Help! Last night when I plugged in my Apache the charging indicator light did not come on. I tried a different charging cable but got the same result. At that time the battery had about 70% charge left, so the phone worked, it just wouldn't charge. Today I can't turn the phone on. When I plug the phone in and press the button I get the boot-up screen, but then it just fades black.

What I don't know is whether the battery is incapable of holding a charge or whether the phone is incapable of charging the battery. Is there a way to tell, other than ordering a new battery, whether the problem is with the battery or the phone?

Re: Apache dead? Or just the battery?

My 6700 has done weird things like this...primarily, it goes dead within 10 minutes of coming off the charger. Crazy, really.

When it happens to me, I pull the battery out for a few seconds...put it back in...the hold the power button down for about 3 seconds. It should reboot and start working normally.

Oh, yeah...when you've got the battery out, check out the contacts on the battery to make sure they are clean. Also, check the flex pins on the phone too for cleanliness and look for warped or broken pins (yes, that would be a bad thing)

Hope this helps!

Re: Apache dead? Or just the battery?

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the mini usb port. if you still want to check the battery try charging the battery with your cradle

And the winners are... hibby50 and Derrycka79!

Upon closer inspection it appears that the mini-USB port is damaged. It just kind of wobbles around in the slot.

My gut reaction is to take the phone apart tonight and see if a fix is as easy as soldering a connector back on. Anybody ever take one of these apart?

Did you mean some hardware help? lol ok I'm kidding, while I haven't looked into this problem myself, I know that my old toshiba laptop had this issue, it required soldering 3 pins back into the motherboard, worked fine after that. I imagine the miniusb has ALOT more pins and they are going to be SMALL.
