EVDO, Voice calls and new ROM

I think this is an old issue (which I seem to recall from my early 6700 days over at PDAPhonehome) but it is now a new issue for me. It has become a new issue for me since 1) I have flashed to the new AKU 3.5 ROM and 2) Telus has recently rolled out EVDO in my local area.

I am now no longer receiving voice calls when connected with EVDO. I have read through a lot of confusing posts on this issue, and they sound like I need to get my MSL in order to do the hack to fix this. I am not sure what kind of success I'll have with Telus CSR in getting this (not sure what excuse I can use that I'll need it)

Is this the only way to fix this? I'd hate to have to go back to AKU 2.0 after I have cooked up a great ROM. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately this is a setting that Telus must have in their radio firmware. It's called "data priority" and basically means that the phone will reject voice calls when EVDO is actively connected. With Sprint there was a workaround to go back to an older firmware, which we had to use until they issued a new one that fixed it. I don't know if there is a similar workaround for Telus. If not, you're probably SOL since they are not going to issue updates for a discontinued phone, and radio images from other carriers will not work.

Thanks for the reply, gbm85. If the setting is in the radio firmware, I am assuming that the OS ROM doesn't matter. Is that right?

I can't say I noticed this with my original ROM, but I hadn't used it very long since we got EVDO in the area.
