Trying to get my MSL, Sprint keeps giving me wrong code...

The MSL that Sprint is giving me over the phone is not working, so I'm trying to get it myself.

Using PHM Registry Editor and this walkthrough:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...&highlight=MSL

I get as far as
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\
(There is no entry for ATDbgLog)

I'm using a WM 6.1 rom I cooked myself ... is AT Debug Log something I should have included in my rom? Can I download it as a .CAB and install it myself?

John

Re: Trying to get my MSL, Sprint keeps giving me wrong code...

You really should do some searching/reading... I am not gonna blast you for it but it would save a lot of time waiting for a response.

It's very well known that the unique MSL codes that Sprnt uses don't work with WM6/6.1 Therefore you need to flash back to WM5, get it activated, then you can use a Custom ROM.

So when you flash to 6.1 all of your MSN/MSID stuff saves from WM5? When I went about flashing to 6.1 I thought I remembered having to reprogram my phone... I must be mistaken. Thank you for the help, I'll just flash back to WM5.

NP. Now that you're on WM5 you shouldn't have a problem with programing.

Re: Trying to get my MSL, Sprint keeps giving me wrong code...

Earlier today I did in upgrade on my line, to get an HTC Touch for another family member on our family share account. I had planned on upgrading my line, and then just swapping the phone numbers (so I could keep my number on my good old trusty 6700--the other line wasn't up for an upgrade for a while)... however, the sprint rep from the toll-free number told me that although my 6700 had the correct MSID/MSN information in it already, I would still need to edit it. And all of the MSL codes they gave me didn't work (and I had a vague idea that it wouldn't work, but I wanted to try anyway).

Well, I just got off the phone with sprint again, and tech support explained to me that I wont need to edit anything if I want to keep the old phone number. So she changed it on her end and now it works perfectly.

No flashing required! Hooray!
