6700 as a tether modem

ok. im using wm 6.1 and xp.
first i just tried hooking up my usb cable and running the internet sharing program on my 6700, and that worked until the next time i tried plugging it in. according to my xp computer, im connected, but no webpages will load on my pc. it worked the first time only.

then i tried the howto from this forum, and it doesnt work... when i plug in my 6700 the find new hardware wizard doesnt pop up... it just immediately connects to my 6700s network (which isnt sharing the connection)

id really like to use my 6700 as a tether modem. how can i get it working again?
