xv6700 Ringtone Error? please help

when i try to set a song as a ringtone i hold the stylus on it and click set as ringtone... but when i do this its says error and a window pops up sayin "This ringtone file is corrupted or unavailable. please choose a different ringtone."
but it says this for all of them... even the ringtones that came on it like the telephone rings 1,2, and 3... can some one please help me with this? i just my phone to play some sweet music when some one calls me!

If it's saying it's corrupt then threre is a software issue. Try to hard reset.

sorry... but i dont even know what a hard reset is :S ... is it just shuttin the phone off or is that erasing everything and reloading? im a real noob... got this like 2 days ago... sorry

You will need to hold down both -keys above phone buttons then put stylus in reset hole at same time. Then press Y and space to boot. You will need to reload everything. You can't make a backup in one file because the error will occur again.

will this delete everything and i have to redownload sync and everything? cuz sync and windows moblie was already on the phone so i dont know how to get that back on there :S

No it won't. It will be the way you got the phone as if it was brand new.

Yes, if not MP3 or WAV it won't work.

Well my thing is he is evidentally very new to the PPC and so I was trying to understand how he made these ringers or where he got them from so we could try to understand whats wrong with "all" of them.......
