PPC6700 freezes

Every now and then I check my phone after not having used it for a few minutes and try to turn it on. No response. I press all of the buttons. Nothing. Before I go to do the usual soft reset I notice that the phone feels hot... like it's been on. I reset it and most of my battery power is gone!

I have had this problem with the phone ever since I got it. I thought it was because I set the phone to check emails every 15 minutes. It wasn't that. I did a hard reset and it would solve the problem for a little while. Sooner or later the problem would present itself again.

I have been using Colonels Custom 3.5 rom for about 2 weeks now and my PDA has never run better! Although, I still have this same problem.

I took it to Sprint once a while back and they said that they won't do anything unless they see the problem occurring. All they have to do is reset the device and it's going to work again... for a while at least.

Does anyone else have this issue!!??

Happens to me from time to time, though I haven't seen it with the new Unified Kitchen 1.0.0. This seemed to happen more frequently when I was using the password lock control panel. I've moved all my programs and mail off the storage card and that seemed to help as well.

mine seems to lock up everytime I forget to turn of wifi when done using it. If the phone shuts off after the 2 min timer, I can't turn it back on. Have to soft reset. All works ok if I remember to turn of wifi before it goes to sleep.

make sure that you are NOT running programs on the phone that are on the storage card. As in, you have a program on the storage card that is running in the background. the card does not quite wake up as fast as the phone, and it can lead the phone not responding to the on/off switch.

If it happens, try popping the card out and putting it back in. If you run programs off of the card, shut them down with the memory app when you're done.

I just make sure that programs I use a lot are in main or extended_rom2 memory. That seems to solve it. I've had one DSOD since updating to the Kirvin rom, and it seemed to be ebcause I was running a program that was on the storage card. I moved the program to extended_rom2, and it hasn't happened since.

FYI. This corrected my problems. Thanks for the help.

Don't keep things on the storage card running when you turn off the device.
