Email Help

I am trying to set up the email on my PPC 6700. I have searched everywhere but I am stuck. I have outlook on my computer and I want to sync it with my phone and be able to check it while away from my computer.

When I try to set it up I am not sure if I should set it up through activesync or through messaging or both. Also I do not know where to find the information needed such as the incoming and outgoing server.

All I have is this:

the name of the Microsoft Exchange server:

VS-EXCH03.gold.ad.bentley.edu

the URL used to connect to my proxy server for exchange
owa.bentley.edu

Thank you for any help you may be able to provide.

First if you go to owa.bentley.edu/oma can you login?

If so go into actvesync on the PPC, hit menu (right softkey) and choose configure server (or add server).

in address put in owa.bentley.edu and check use ssl.
enter your username, password, and domain.
choose what you would like to sync, and hit finish.

If you do not have access to OMA, then we will have to go a different route.

The domain will more than likely be bentley.edu. I would try it with the SSL checked, but I'm willing to bet you want it unchecked.

When you use the website, how do you put in your username? As domain\username, as an email address or just your username?

When I go to the website I am redirected to https://owa.bentley.edu/oma

then I put in my user name which is xxxx_xxxx@bentley.edu and my password. I am then told that the device I am using is not supported and then I choose ok to continue and it shows my email.

I have had my email configured once before on my phone...the person who did it set it up through an imap4 account. Would that be easier to do? I just don't know what any of the server information is or where to find it.

I would setup the account with the server being oma.bentley.edu, the username being xxxx_xxx, the password being your password and the domain being bentley.edu

The only other thing I would try is getting the secure certificate for bentley.edu and install it on the 6700.

I tried and it still does not work. It says the server name is not correct and also keeps asking for my password.

Can I set it up through imap?

Did you try the secure certificate?

And yes, you could set it up with imap, but you would have to know the imap server settings.
