My 6700 won't stay connected to my Bluetooth car kit!

I have a PPC-6700 activated through Verizon, and it will not connect properly to my Motorola IHF-1000 car kit. All of my other phones have worked just fine, but this one will either disconnect itself, end calls on its own, or sometimes seem like it's working then not allow sound through in either direction...

I'm wondering if there's an update I can download for the phone to fix any possible Bluetooth bugs or errors.

If anyone has had this problem, or knows how to fix it, any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Oh and if it matters, I have ROM version 2.06.00 WWE and Radio version 1.12.00. I dont know what that means, but I do see that ROM updates are popular here...

defaz -

I'm sorry to say it, but you may have to get used to problems with the BT Hands-Free Link operation on the 6700.

The Microsoft BT stack is a bit buggy, and I have had many problems with my 6700 and my Acura HFL operation.

I have talked to all three parties (Johnson Controls - the Acura HFL manufacturer, Microsoft, and UTStarcom - the HTC distributor), and all admit that there is a problem. They also admit that it is not their problem.

Microsoft claims that they have made a number of BT HFL improvements in Windows Mobile 6. I guess I'll believe it when I see it - if I ever get to see it.

That said, there are some people here who haven't seen the same problems that you and I are seeing. Maybe a different HFL car system may work better for you. I am stuck with the one that came with my car, unfortunately.

I love my 6700, but the BT HFL problems drive me nuts on almost a daily basis. I never had these problems with my Motorola V710. Right now, I'm not sure if I'll ever buy another WM-based device, unless I have a long trial period.

Best of luck!

defaz,
if you are computer savy, you might want to try a new rom. Maybe kirvins clean and simple aku 3.5. look for it in the custom rom installers thread that is stickied to the front page, that should get you done. Bluetooth in the stock rom was very hit and miss, and the newer ones are much better with BT.

I appreciate the help!

Yea, I"ve looked into updating the ROM, but i'm scared about a couple things:

First, my phone is a Sprint phone, and I had it unlocked and activated with Verizon. (it still says Sprint at startup and SprintPCS during calls)

AAAnd second, since it has been unlocked, and had a new ESN assigned, I'm scared it will revert back to it's stock configuration when I change the rom.

Do I have anything to be worried about?

Thanks again for the quick replies.
