dead digitizer

Does anyone have suggestions on how to deal with a dead digitizer. I've been unable to find any list of keyboard commands, or patches that allow the joystick to become a mouse.

The screwy thing is that the part that's dead is smack dab in the middle of the screen, an area the size of 2 eraser heads. So when setting up after a reboot, the digitizer set up cant recognize that initial middle of the screen tap.

Your comments and suggestions would be most appreciated.

Frustrated as humanly possible....

Rob

I had the same thing happen to mine & I was able to get a tech at a Sprint store to replace it for free, because I have insurance. You need to make sure you go to one of the service stores in order to get this done.

Your other option is to buy a new touchscreen off of Ebay. Last time I looked they were about 30 dollars & included instructions on how to take your PPC apart and replace the screen.

thanks 8notime for your response. That seems to be the consensous out there. I'm just waiting until i exhaust all options. I'm opening up the critter tonight and cleaning the contacts for the screen and digitizer. Then if it's still problematic i'll get it replaced.
