Question Cricket 6700: SMS/Linux

Recently received the phone through an eBay purchase. I have Cricket service, I am able to call, but not receive calls. I am able to surf the internet. I am able to receive text messages (though late). I am unable to send text messages, this is a bummer. Though, I did send a friend a pix message yesterday night, and he got it this morning... but every time I try and text it fails...
1) Do SMS and MMS run on the same mechanism or pathway? What I mean is if I follow all the MMS thread's suggestions and instructions, will normal text messaging function? This is my main dilemma, I am paying for unlimited texting, yet do not have it... leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

2) Some of the reg. values/keys in this thread (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...ht=cricket+MMS) are not present on my device. The seller included a trial version of Resco Registry, which I have used to change many values... but it won't let me delete (not full version). What is another regedit program that is free?

#) I run ubuntu linux on my computer. I plugged the phone up to the computer... and my computer did not recognize that anything happened. The phone came with a CD... but I don't think any of the prorgams will run on a linux system. Does anyone know of syncing or recognition software that will work with ubuntu? Or should I use my roomie's PC... lol.

I did my best to search multiple forums out for the past day... but could use some direct, fresh answers. Thanks much.

As far as I know MMS SMS both run the same, fixes for MMS usually fix any text issues. I highly doubt you will get anything to run on linux ... at least i've never seen this option, windows xp is bad enough for sync, vista is better at sync but horrid for flashing IMO. You might be able to do it with linux if you can mount a windows operating system to it, I would go with xp.

Try this one I've attached... I personally use Resco but it is not free.

Re: Cricket 6700: SMS/Linux

Thanks above. I will try when I get access to a PC.
Also, edited first post...
I cannot: receive calls or send texts.
I can: surf internet, make calls, receive texts.

Okay I think what I would do in your case is redo your flash, making sure you select Smartdial, with a smart dial keypad and a MMS/SMS option... see if that works... sounds almost like you have half of what you need.

Re: Cricket 6700: SMS/Linux

I installed a new regedit program, and messed with the reg values that I could... some strings that I was supposed to change were not there... Also, I was instructed to delete a certain folder, but "Access Denied" On my own phone... lol
Any suggestions?
I can now receive and make calls, receive texts, and surf the web.
I cannot send texts.
That makes me sad.

Would that be using something like BuildOS?

Re: Cricket 6700: SMS/Linux

I am still having to luck with SMS... also, Cricket offers no help. Do you think asking them to reset the services would do any good? I am about to sell this phone on eBay and go to AT&T or something... so frustrating.
I'd also say that 1 out of every 2 calls I make/receive is dropped... anyone know what gives?
