WModem error using USB is COM OPEN ERROR

I have a problem using "Saridnours’ AKU 3.5+ Rom. Current 3/28 v3.5pr6". I am using the USB cable with a clean install of the ROM and hard reset. At first I thought it might be a GPS / COM port conflict so I did a hard reset and still have the problem. I had been using WModem with the latest stock ROM prior to this install?

I have verified that there are no COM Port conflicts and stopped all running processes. After verifying that ActiveSync is not running and then starting WModem from the Windows directory, selecting USB, and clicking Start I receive the error "COM OPEN ERROR".

works with different ROM

Installed Colonel's Custom 3.5 Final Rom OtherCarriers and the problem went away so I will reinstall Saridnours ROM and see if the issue persists.

I'm using Saridnour's as well and get the same error. As soon as you hit start in the modem utility if gives the error. It persists after soft and hard resets. Maybe this can be fixed for PR7....

If you use MS Voice Command, turn it off and the wmodem will launch without the com-open error.

The 3.5 one works fine, for some reason MS and WModem keep the same COM open and therefore conflict with each other.

Not sure how to resolve it, but thats the issue.

I tried unchecking the enabled box in voice command and tried the modem again. Still receive the "COM OPEN ERROR". I need wmodem because I can't use Internet Connection Sharing with my VPN client.
