I agree with this.. I am having the same problem and without seeing the Windows folder I cannot add new ringtones.. Another problem I'm having, is that I cannot install the regedit software because I am using Windows Mobile Device Center and not Active Sync.
Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to view the Windows folder in Vista or how to install the registry editing software?? Thanks |

I use PocketController for most things when I need to dig in my PPC from the desktop. Not really a fix, but maybe that would make it a bit easier.

Vista Ultimate 32bit here and I can see everything from the computer, including the unlocked ext_rom. Have you checked windows update? There was a "Microsoft Corporation driver update for Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" that was optional.

There was no link on the update details in my update history, but if you run Windows Udate it should show up under optional updates.
Also, which registry editor are you trying to install? Could you post a link? |

Alright I'll check my updates, and also the registry editor link is phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
All i'm pretty much trying to do is be able to ad my own ringtones and edit some stuff like the "message sent" notification that comes up after texts and a few small other tweaks |

Ok, I found the cab installer on their website and I attached it here.
1. Unzip the zip file 2. Place the cab file anywhere on your PocketPC 2. Find it in File Explorer and click it and it should start installing. For the ringtones, I know that mp3, wav and wma ringtones only need to go in the My Documents folder to work. For incoming mail sounds though they have to be wav and put in the windows folder. |

This has always been a problem in Windows Vista. I have not found a way to fix this yet. It is almost like a user account control, but cant say for sure. If you use Active Sync on your WinXP box you can see EVERYTHING on the device, as if you had ADMIN rights to the PPC device. Now when you go to Win Vista, regardless of version you are using, you can only see the basics, as if you only had basic user/power user rights to the PC.
I tried various permission settings on my computer, with Win Vista x64 Ultimate, and nothing has allowed me to view those Window directory files. I am almost 100% positive that there is a setting or registry entry with in the Mobile Device Manager that is hendering everyone from seeing those files, I just havent figured out where that entry is. I just reinstalled Vista from other various problems with Vista driver problems and 4GB of RAM. I will continue to dig and play with my registry and see what I can do to unlock it, but so far the last few weeks have been unsuccessful! |
