Unhappy WM5 back on my PPC

HI All, Im hopeing Im in the right area. I have a ppc6700, loved it when i got it. Loved it more when i installed wm6. Now the phone needs service as the speaker and the ear speaker of the phone is not working. I have insurance and want to bring it in. My question is do i void the insuarnce claim to replace it? Do I have to reinstall the old wm5 OS and if so, where do I get it.

Thanks
MC

Re: WM5 back on my PPC

Yes you will need to flash back to original stock WM5 rom. You can find that here. If the tech asks why there is no data on the phone tell them you hard reset it in an atempt to fix the issue. Hope this helps.

Re: WM5 back on my PPC

One more question before I grab the hammer. How do I allow the exe to load back onto my phone? I tried to run the file from my laptop, but I think i am missing a big part of the whole flash equasion. Also, the link, is the actual wm5 software I am flashing back to?
My steps:
1.D/L file from supplied link
2. hard reset phone,
2a. phone asks to return to factory default? y or n ???
3. soft boot: usb bootloader?
4. plu in phone via usb
5. run d/l file
6. exe says error dll file not found.

7 grab hammer and pound face repeatedly, starting with hitting temple area first.

This application has failed to start because RAPI.dll was not found. Re-installingthe application may fix this problem.

Re: WM5 back on my PPC

Hmm, I'm not sure. Try redownloading. I once downloaded the offical rom from Starcom's site and I was running to much junk on my machine, somehow the file got courrupt. But redownloaded and it worked.

Re: WM5 back on my PPC

That's not nececary. ActiveSync won't work when in bootloader, please start off in bootloader. Always seems to work better.

Re: WM5 back on my PPC

Okay,,so that I am clear.
steps:

**kill all programs running in the b/g, not all, just junk that i dont need. Also, i just remembered something, When I did the first update, I turned off my fire wall settings??
1. redownload file
2. re-start ppc 6700 off in bootloader which is "soft"bootloader
3. connect smart ppc 6700 to PC via usb cable
4. Run file that I redownloaded?
