Thanks for that informative bit about elementary school curriculum standards in the USA. [After repeating Kindergarten 3 times I ended up dropping out of school in the first grade, which largely explains my current struggles with basic Math reasoning.]

The nature of my question comes from the tendency of computer software manufacturers to continually raise the version numbers several times because of a typo or something stupid like that, which often in no way affects hardware compatability. In fact, prior to my question about the significance of the jump from a 1.02 to a 1.04 version number, I had found this post which seem to discount the importance of miniscule changes in bootloader versions.

I'm glad I returned to this forum for expert commentary on the importance of bootloader revision changes...Once again, size does matter, doesn't it?

Well I understand what you are saying and I promise you PDAPhoneJunkie isnt usually so on point about things but sometimes retarded questions that are really self-explainatory get to you. But sometimes those who are asking Qs just need their already derived answer confirmed and backed up.

From the moment I joined PPCGeeks as a a green--XV6700--noob in July of this year, I was always encouraged by you and PDAPhoneJunkie to ask questions without worry about how stupid or "retarded" they were. It's that same kind of helpful spirit that makes a person welcome and prompted me to give of my time (which I don't really have) to help others as I've become more knowledgeable about my 6700.

In my follow-up explanation and the basis of my obviously retarded question of "Bootloader 1.04. Is that too far over?" I was looking for input on an issue of firmware compatibility in light of what seemed to be minor numerical version change and not a challenge to what math skills I should have learned in elementary school. While I don't mind having my childhood computational skills questioned, an additional statement of "small bootloader version changes are huge when cooking ROM's" would have enhanced my learning about PPC functionality.

Now, please don't misunderstand me as some uptight d**k head who can't take a joke and a little bantering. My non-cyber personal friends will be the first ones to tell you not to take my sarcasm and jokes seriously. However, I have noticed a trend towards impatience and a lack of tolerance for those still seeking to learn about their device. The more that continues, the less of a learning community this will become.

I understand we all go through difficult times in our personal lives, often misdirecting our intentions and affecting how we come across to people. PDAPhoneJunkie, if things have not been as smooth in your life as you'd like them to be, I really wish you the best and welcome an opportunity to help through PM dialog...(though, I have no money or a job to offer you.)

Re: xv6700

Alright, enough with the sarcasm, I'll stop. Lol.

So, yes the bootloader upgrades are absolutly worthless. As it stands 1.02 is probably your best. I personally never had any issues with it or v1.00, in fact it was the best. Ggruusa claims that is has Vista issues though. They changed the partion sizes between 1.00 and 1.02 but the RUU still works for both.

Anyhow with all that said bootloader 1.04 won't work with Kirvin ROM.

As for that thread, yes there are two different generations of Apache's. I own the first and second ones. From what I see the second generation Apache just has blue keyboard led's instead of red. I always used my red as my personal device.

See them here, the red ones don't stand out as much but it is better in no lighting because the symbols on top light up as well, unlike the blue ones. Sorry the pic isn't too great, I took that with my Mogul.

I think I might be able to flash the .nbf file from an updated RUU though... Let me try that...

Re: xv6700

Manilla can't run on the Apache, well at least it doesn't run very smothly. Don't think that there is a better model Apache over another one. They both run the same. Just a very minor difference that it not noticed, the keyboards lights is an indicator of newer and older. On the Sprint ones the version with thee old Sprint logo has the red lights and the newer Sprint logo has the blue. It's because of two different hardware versions. But the drivers and everything work just fine on both.

Re: xv6700

I have gotten one version of manilla2d to work on it..not the most current. If you cook it into a rom it does work well. I just have been unable to aply the weather patches to that version. Some have been able to cook it into there roms(the most current version) and seem to have it work. I like the interface..but live in watertown SD..and that is not in the manilla list..nor have I been able to add it. I have created a thread to that effect..but no responses other than"me too"
