Do you use a bluetooth GPS device? I had the same issue once when my GPS was trying to use the same port that WModem uses. Switching the GPS to a different port worked for me.

same problem with COM OPEN ERROR for WModem

I have the same problem using "Saridnours’ AKU 3.5+ Rom. Current 3/28 v3.5pr6". I am using the USB cable with a clean install of the ROM and hard reset. At first I thought it might be a GPS / COM port conflict so I did a hard reset and still have the problem. I had been using WModem with the latest stock ROM prior to this install?

Use the "Internet Sharing" app instead of WModem.

ya, its still defective, even in the new kitchen. Ive tried patching it myself with files from other kitchens but inevitably it always stops working.

If you simply *must* use the wmodem... it will work right after a soft reset. Other than that its internet sharing time ><

The only problem I have with "Internet Sharing" is that Windows Vista won't let me use it with "Internet Connection Sharing".

I wish it would. Does "Internet Connection Sharing" work for anyone using "Internet Sharing" on their Apache?

I liked sharing my EVDO connection throughout my WiFi system to get my laptop, Playstation 3, and Wii online. It actually works fine for online gaming via PS3 and Wii Shop for Wii. It's better than the 31.2kbps connection I'd have to use otherwise.

WModem doesn't ever work for me (via USB), even right after a soft reset.
