Disable Data

What I am trying to do is disable data on Alltel ppc6700. I want to use the ppc6700 with WiFi and as a phone and text messages. I do not want to use Axcess Broadband/MobileLink Service as there isn't great coverage here. There is non encrypted wifi all over the place. Almost every business here has free wifi. Is this a simple click or do I have to change some info somewhere. I am due to get my ppc6700 this week.
Thanks

Surefire way is to delete your #777 dial-up connection. Go to Start->settings->Connections tab->Connections icon->Manage existing connections->tap and old on the one in the list and choose delete from the menu that comes up.

kinda, just remove the #777 connection...its what the phone defaults to use to make a "vision/internet" connection

will NOT affect your SMS

however.... MMS is sent through internet... you will not be able to send MMS

So, is there a way for the phone to automatically default to Wifi and not Alltel data for email and browser and still have MMS work automatically though Alltel?
