XV6700 Display

Hi All,

I googled a lot and searched various forums and couldn't find and answer to the issue i'm having.

I've got a new phone as a replacement for my damaged XV6700 (Verizon) (battery compartment slightly damaged but otherwise works fine). The replacement phone display kind of looks faded and dull (the blue background isn't really blue). The device has the new version of the ROM installed from UTStarcom. I tried changing the backlight but really didn't make any difference. I think it's the contrast but there is no contrast setting available. I complained so they sent me another replacement which also has the same display type (it had new rom also). I went to the store and all of the devices they showed me have the same faded display . The display is dull even when the device just starts with a white background and the verizon logo, not just after WM is running. I put both devices next to each other and can see the difference when I soft reset the devices together.

One of the gentlemen at the store had an old device like mine and had updated the ROM using the update available from UTStarcom. It also had the faded display.

Has anyone seen their display change like i've described above after updating the ROM ?

Does anyone know of a hack to change the contrast ? (I read through the list of registry hacks etc. but couldn't find it)

Also, i'm trying to exchange ROM s between the devices to see if that will work. Has anyone been able to backup and restore their ROM successfully using the instructions at geek zone ? (I can't post the link because I got an error saying I can't post links till I have posted at least twice).

If anyone can give me any info or links to what i've described i'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Purush
