Connectivity Problems on PPC 6700 Causing Insomina

First of all, I want to apologize if this question has been answered previously. There is a wealth of information on this site and although I have found many interesting and potentially useful topics, I have yet to find the answer I am seeking.

I am the rather frustrated user of a Sprint PPC 6700 who cannot get internet access through either my PSC Vision account or my WiFi. The most annoying thing of all is internet access on phone worked for the first day and then has never worked again.

I have tried the official ROM update and the PRL 20225 update to no avail. I have done hard resets and attempted Client-Initiated IOTA. I have tried turing on flight mode for 30 seconds and restarting phone.

Thus far nothing I have tried has been able to make a difference. Unfortunately using a non-Sprint ROM is not a viable option as the phone was given to me by work.

The PCS Vision attempts are giving me a error code 67 every time I dial. I had been getting an error code 1012 when attempting IOTA, but that has been fixed.

The WiFi connection puzzles me more as I am getting a connection, strong signal and the phone is leasing an IP address from the router. I can ping the phone via other computers on the network but I still get a page cannot be found error. This happens regardless if I put the phone in DHCP or provide a static address.

I am able to access the internet on the phone when it is cradled, however I get a message to the effect it cannot get a server assigned address. Once this message appears the phone can bring up webpages. This is an improvement from previous times and only started to work after the ROM update.

The general opinion I have seen online is that the phone is a candidate for replacement as there are know flaws with this phone that cause this problem.

Please advise prior to my taking this step as going without my phone (as it would take a while for my business to replace my phone once I turned it in for maintenance) tends to cripple my ability to interface with my customers and home office.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions or solutions.

Once upon a time when I was having those kind of troubles i said f it and just loaded up a whole new fresh rom with all the spy/badware the orginal Rom had in it. No reset no un-installing anything. Did that and wow my cellular internet worked. turns out there were some different .cab files that i needed but never bothered to install. still don't know which ones. I just did that and did the manual way of getting rid of the few Sprint Addons i didn't want.

For instance when your trying to connect does your connection say Sprint Vision or something else? For me that works best. I think thats part of the orginal install settings.

i know from past experience even with a "business owned" phone you can still take it into a Sprint Repair Store and have them take a look at it and if there is a problem and they can fix/repair it, they would.

Yes, I tried a fresh install of the ROM (wiped the phone and reloaded from ground zero, then followed up with the upgrade ROM. No luck with that, although I have heard several people getting connectivity.

The connection says Sprint Vision, I am operating from practically a "virgin" phone from a software perspective.

Hopefully I will have time next week to do so, been trying to get it working correctly before my new daughter is born and all my spare time goes away.

On a positive note, I managed to get the WiFi working by manually inputing DNS server addresses. Seems DHCP was not passing them correctly to the phone.

Success?

After a few hours of sleep I decided to test the phone again and the Sprint Vision connection is working. I will be using the phone all day so I will have plenty of opportunities to check functionality when I am out and about.

Glad it is finally working (been having the internet problem for about 3 months now).

As for why it decided to start working now, who knows? I left it sync'd to the computer after I went to bed a few hours ago or Sprint finally pushed my account information down to the phone or the gremlins were chased out by the theme I loaded (after all at least my phone could look good even if it does not work).

My thanks to all the posters here and keep your fingers crossed regarding my phone. Just remember, it worked for a day after I first pulled it out of the box and then stopped working.

P.S. I hope you are happy...I have been fighting the urge to get a personal smartphone for some time and now this one is working again I feel my willpower weakening. I wonder if they can hold a forum community liable for accessory to murder if my wife kills me when I buy one?
