Loving the new Sonic theme, was getting a little bored of Mario. I had BT PAN working on 1.3 (I think it was 1.3?) before, and now I can't even seem to tether with DUN now. Might just be me, but I dunno - I had DUN working on my macbook before.
Also, phone vibrates getting a cell but not a text. Any way to fix this?

Today while I was checking my voicemail the display above the keypad only showed the first digit of my pin# and then wouldn't display anymore. I've had the same problem with other ROMs too periodically.

I like the new sonic theme as well. Its cool!
Well on the new 1.5u, seemed to have digressed a little cause now I cant activate Internet Sharing in BT mode at all. It gets a "Cannot Connect reason unknown" message when I click connect. Internet sharing works in USB mode and BT still seems work in all but PAN mode. I tried wModem which I used to use in 2.x all the time. It appears to work but does not expose the DUN profile. So its not available from my laptop. I added a BT serial port and that profile is visable from other devices but no DUN when wmodem is running. Its great that Today items dont come activated. That makes it easier to test and get up and running initially. Keep the new ROMs comming bigJ... they are GREAT! especially since we wont be seeing a 6800 for a few months. |

WModem works great for me even without the profile being visible using the Sprint dialer on the install disc.
I love the sonic theme as well... but I borked it somehow and now I can't get it back *shakes fist* EDIT: Nevermind, its the windows default. I'm blind and an idiot. By the way, hard resetting a third time (yes, a third time) seems to have fixed all the issues I was having. |

I love everything BigJ has put out. Cant blame him for PA being crap. list of my issues with PhoneAlarm. *Causes missed calls due to slow ringtone load times(when screen is turned off. Happens more often when phone is off and bluetooth is enabled) *Causes repeated hang ups on soft reset (a problem listed on almost ever build on their forum) *Due to how custom the ROM is some features (sms filtering, sms forwarding, call forwarding) DO NOT WORK. If someone can test it out and get it working let me know! |

RE: the vibrate.... go to start - settings - sound & notifications - dropdown the box to Messaging: New Message (Pal... and then check the "vibrate" checkbox beneath it. Quote:
as far as it running slower, thats just silly. The stock rom has little to no file cache and is not optimized in the slightest. I did turn DOWN the cache from 9.6 but its still double and even triple in some places from the stock loaded 3.5 Quote:
++++++++++++ Im sorry that PA is causing problems for you guys. The only other option i have is to remove it from the ROM. On my end (wich is just me) the application works fantastic now that its on the latest and I have had no lockups or anything since 1.5uB. Keep in mind as you read these posts... a LOT of the issues people are having are not the ROM so to speak, but more not understanding how something functions or works on the phone or in conjunction with other applications. The only *REAL* issue that seems to have come up since 1.3 really, is the fact that the BlueTooth is not working properly. It seems like everytime i fix one BlueTooth problem, another arises. Lets review the course of the unified ROM 1.0 - glitchy as f*ck, a steep learning curve going to the new kitchen (BlueTooth issues with kitchen) 1.1 - outlook was all jacked up due to new dependancy on HTML templates(BlueTooth issues with kitchen) 1.2 - random cleanup, kitchen optimization, OEM headaches(BlueTooth issues with kitchen) 1.3 - Phonealarm REALLY exposed the BT issues with such ease of access to the BT on/off. *BUT* the issue ALREADY existed! (BlueTooth issues with kitchen) 1.4 - struggles with BT & PA, remove PA ability to control BT & attempt to resolve BT issues myself by pulling files from other kitchens on XDA (BlueTooth issues with kitchen) 1.5 - downgrade BT, resolves ALL known KITCHEN BT issues, but PAN is broken- effectively stopping it from working with laptops. 1.5 sp1 - will attempt to track down PAN only related files & registry. If successfull will have resolved BT issues completely... ALTHOUGH... the unified kitchen STILL will have BT issues...... if my CAB file works, ill release..... 1.5 (final) - I plan on increasing the cache slightly in 3 places. BT will function properly in both DUN & PAN modes for not just headsets but laptops and inet sharing application as well. ------ note, that ALL other programs in the ROM function EXACTLY the way they would had you installed them yourself from a cab file or exe. If you dont like it, dont use it. If you want a "clean" ROM, either delete the shortcuts to the programs, or install kirvins clean & simple. I have spent literally HUNDREDS of hours testing my ROMs, most of the testing is done by about 10 people. Recently, I have been releasing beta's because there are things i feel you guys deserve to have immediately. I dont want the community to suffer through a broken ROM for 3 or 4 weeks while i "test" out a fix that i know works. I cant *fix* the BT issues. All i can do is borrow work from others, piece it togethor like a nasty jigsaw puzzle with 3000 pieces and hope i got it all done right at the end of the day. -YES im running out of ideas, but hell, i think its nice to throw B roms your way when i feel that im on to something. Right now I feel the 1.5uB to be the most stable ROM to date from the unified kitchen... if for no other reason than the stupid BT fix I have implemented allows headsets to work and stay paired, and able to shut on/off all day everyday. No other unified ROM can do this without suffering the endless spin when turning on BT after a few hours of use. It is the minority, even for this community to use BT to connect to a laptop.... however... i AM working hard to fix it, and I feel this is the last serious issue, or even minor issue that my rom suffers right now. Just to give you a heads up for what the next Beta will have in regards to BT. Im going to basicly do the exact same thing i did this time, but instead of pulling from AKU2.0 im going to pull them from the kitchen that helmi released initially (AKU3.3). The same kitchen the 9.6 ROM is built from where BT is functioning perfectly with both DUN & PAN connections and has no known issues with the "endless-spin". Instead of releasing the next beta public, i need only 3 people or so that use bluetooth with laptops. Both to sync/xfer and for internet sharing/wmodem. Please PM me if interested. If nobody responds I have a laptop at work with a newer BT card than my own, and if im not locked out of it anymore ill do the best i can to test for stability. so, ya, PM me or something cuz that will rock! If that works, Im probrably done. At least for a very, very long time. If it fails, im done until the kitchen is updated with working BT files. ![]()

Here's somethings I have found -- when I flashed on 1.5b_g, (I'm on vzw) I didnt have to do anything to be able to send and receive text messages. (Funny, when I go in and look, my mms server is sprint, yet it works just fine!) I did not add the string, and it works fine. Also, I have used PA for a while, and I'm not seeing an issues. I mostly use it for reminders of missed SMS, and it works fine, even with that other SMS app that J has installed. So, There's my 2 cents.
Keep up the good work J. On a semi side note -- J, have you looked at altering the pagepool to pep this baby up a bit? Maybe bump it up by 8 mb? I'm running lots of stuff, and still have 24mb free program ram... Might take care of some other issues with not waking up fast enough to get a call... Or might cause even more issues ![]()
