Possible AGPS Opportunity for the 6700????

We all know that the phone is capable of limited GPS positioning. This may be a possibility if someone can port it to our phones.

Anyone interested??? here is the URL http://www.pocketpc-live.com/htc-p36...activated.html

They also have maps for download.

I believe that this is the link:

http://www.pocketpc-live.com/htc-p36...activated.html

Unfortunately, I believe that this will not help us with the 6700.

Well, I posted the ROM anyway on the FTP site. It's under the "P3600 ROM (GPS Update)" folder. That way people can take a look-see and play around with it.

Please don't waste your time with this...the hardware in the referenced PPC is a proper GPS chip, as compared to the a-gps function available in our 6700. It is possible to retrieve info such as latitude, longitude, and elevation from our a-gps enabled device (as long as you're in an area that supports this feature.) This information (in theory) could be sent via a soft-gps to a program such as tomtom, but I assume that accuracy would be terrible. For those interested in tinkering, take a look at windows\fieldtrial.exe on your 6700. You can see GPS stats however, I believe this only works for Verizon devices. Good luck.

According to the huge thread @ pdaphonehome HTC has confirmed the 6700 has full gps, not agps.

Mine also says n/a as well. I even tried turning on location services under phone options and it still said n/a.

Where is the link to pdaphonehome that suggests the 6700 has full-blown GPS? That is simply not true. (Not to upset anyone, i wish it was!)
