They already have 8GB minisd cards.... I believe they are around 80x (~9mbps)

perhaps the read/write speed of the card is an issue in whether or not the higher capacity cards will work with the apache.???
just a guess...

Well this is my first post so I hope I don't screw it up! I purchased a 4gig mini SD card off Ebay about 2 months ago and have filled it almost to capacity. Mostly music plus about 6 Disney flicks to keep my youngest child occupied when she get's restless in the car, etc....plus Monty Python and the Holy Grail for myself!

I have had no problems at all with this card. I was a bit leary of it because 4 gig cards are not suppose to exist, plust it was only about $50. The same seller is now selling them for about $40 (I bought another). I don't know if they all work, or if I just got lucky, but it's working well for me! Cant't post a link as I haven't posted enough messages yet, but the seller's name is pc2buy and search for High Speed 4 GB Mini SD miniSD Card 4GB Go Adapter 4M

And no, I'm not affiliated with this guy in any way

I just bought a Transcend 2GB card off eBay for $20 shipped. Here's a weird one for you.

My XV6700 reads it just fine. When I stick it in my Imation USB card reader hooked to my laptop (running XP Pro), it can't read it - says it has a capacity of 3873 MB (!) and that it isn't formatted.

Tried formatting it and it goes through the whole process then at the end says it can't complete the format 'cause sector 0 is bad.

Put it in the built-in card reader on my new Gateway desktop (running Vista Premium) and it reads/writes it just fine. Says it is 2008 MB capacity. Tried plugging the Imation USB reader into the Gateway - says the card isn't formatted.

So, now it looks like I have to get another USB reader for my laptop. Its really weird though. This Imation USB reader has been totally bullet-proof. It has read everything else I've ever put in it - including a MICRO-SD (transflash) with an SD adapter.....

I bought a no-name brand 4 gb minisd about 2 months ago for use in my XV6700. It works great for the most part and lets me carry around more 'stuff' than I probably need; it even came with both an SD adapter and a thumbdrive adapter that work well in other devices.

There really is only 1 issue that bothers me. The camera application refuses to recognize the card. It will let you set it as a storage location but you will get an error, trying to take pictures or video, that there is no storage space available. But its a small issue for such great storage capacity.

Well, I used my new 2 GB card today. Loaded up 1.5 GB worth of MP3s and set WMP on shuffle-play. Listened to it for 8.5 hours and never heard the same song twice.

I was impressed with the staying power of this thing. I'm running on a standard OEM battery and it only got down to 10% on the battery meter a few minutes before I shut it off - after playing continuously for 8.5 hours......
