RNDIS fix? Does this work?

I don't know how to enter this stuff into the reg. I do have TRE though.

I was reading a thread and found this at the end:

Labens:

"This is my first post, so I hope it is found useful.

6) USB Serial Mode for ActiveSync broken (unchecking 'use advanced networking ' option in settings/connections/activesync errors)

Turning off RNDIS active sync mode is critical for anyone using VPN software. I was unable to find any 3.5 ROMs with this working properly. So I did some digging and found a fix. If there is a better thread to post this, let me know.

To fix this issue apply the following registry entries that are missing in the ROM. Then go to the Setting/Connections and turn on/off the advanced network setting and plug in your USB cable.

You can import the keys below using TRE.

Im having this issue as well. I just got a laptop from work and have to connect via Nortel Contivity VPN from home. i think this may be conflicting with AS. I have installed and uninstalled AS like 10 times and it will ONLY connect the first time after I install. It will charge just fine but it will not connect anymore. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

Contivity is a pain, but you can work around it. What you have to do is make sure that the phone is NOT connected to active sync when you start the vpn (remove it from the cradle, disconnect it from the computer). If it is, activesync will fail and you'll have to soft reset the phone AND disconnect the VPN before it will work again. If you connect the vpn and THEN cradle the phone, it should work fine.

RNDIS probs.-- Can U use phone as modem AND Contivity VPN??

Does anyone know of a way to keep RNDIS stable while using phone as modem to activate a VPN connection using Contivity?

I could do it with my previous phone (a Treo), but with Active Sync requiring RNDIS, the VPN connection kills the phone as modem connection and itself simultaneously upon completion of the VPN connection.... This is very frustrating when you are on the go and want to login remotely through a secure tunnel....

Any ideas how to work around this issue? Can RNDIS be disabled??

Thanks!
