Re: How Long Does your Battery last?
Nah, I hate extended battery. Too big, no need to add to a brick

Re: How Long Does your Battery last?
Yep, old battery. Also, flashing to WM6/6.1 will help. Wait, NOT. Use Kirvin 3.5 and you'll have nice battery life.

6.1 (5.2.19716) If I try to use EVDO, I can surf www.theinquirer.net and load the page, and read maybe 2-3 articles before I get a shutdown. Makes for crappy waiting times for appointments... I've begun to read books again >.< My battery is 1.5 years old now. 1. You can set WiFi to turn off after a predetermine time if no connection. Sometimes I forget to turn it off, and this feature helps when in a "no hotspot" area. 2. If in a good strong WiFi signal area, tune your Wireless Lan Power Mode to Best Battery. 3. The Registry battery tweaks are a must. Easiest to use the attached cab below. (Battery Fix Zip..Unzip and you'll find the cab) 4. Use a CPU speed management like XCPUScalar It allows you to set the CPU speed at four different levels, depending on CPU demand. For example, Since most of the CPU load at rest is anywhere between 3 and 7%, you can set this to slow down the CPU to 208 Mhz and to quickly jump up to another preset as soon as you start pushing buttons and the load gets above 10%. Just think, 208 Mhz is nearly half the speed as the stock 420 Mhz, crudely demanding half as much power. This has made a huge improvement for me. The nice thin is that you can use this to overclock to 620 Mhz for CPU intensive work, like watching video. 5. Pocket PC's use a lot of power--not unlike a laptop--far more than a regular cell phone. How many of you can get a lot of battery out of your laptop? Don't expect days of charge from this or any other PPC, unless you're not using it--which to me is pointless. 6. As unpopular as this suggestion may be, get a cheapo battery from ebay (less than $10), keep it on your charger and/or take it with you, just in case you need the portable power. I sometimes use the chepo when I'm going to be doing a lot of WiFi surfing and run the thing down to nothing, then switch. Surprisingly how fast the thing recharges. 5. Keep a car charger in your car and a USB cable by your computer at work or wherever. Whenever you're in your car or around your computer, plug the thing in and use a Bluetooth headgear to make and answer calls hands free. Battery life was a real issue that bugged me like crazy before. Not any more...It's a way of life that--with the above suggestions--has made things a lot easier. |
