I was just about to make a post on this. I've had my 6700 for over a year now, and I've enjoyed it much more than my old 6600. I'd like to get more out of it though, so I was hoping to put on a cooked firmware.

1. Are they compatable fully with Telus and all their garbage?
2. Is there a good tutorial? All I found was the cook your own guide, and I'd rather use a precompiled ad I could never do those tweaks. (Unless a precompile would totally break compatability...)

Help?

The trick to doing this, if you want to use a cooked ROM, is to keep your extended_rom folder.
I have a friend that has a telus unit - we put jbabey's ROM on it and copied the telus extended_rom to it and did a hard reset - this way you get all of the telus settings and such.

when you flash a rom, just make sure you do not flash a ms_.nbf (the Extended Rom). Then, after flash and hard reset, your extended rom should still be there.

However, it is still a good idea to save all of your ExtRom cabs on the SD just in case

Okay, that's neat then. Where do I grab my extended_rom folder from? (Still looking for a tutorial)

I'm on Telus and I can confirm that some of the cooked ROMs work on my phone. I've used a couple of others and tried to cook one of my own but some cooked ROMs, including the one I tried to make, got stuck at the logo screen (not the bootloader). After flashing another ROM, all was working well.

Its worth the upgrade.

AceTKen, you can look for threads about unlocking and unhiding the ExtRom or check out the sticky on making you own custom ExtRom. Also, the first link in my sig is a thread where I am gathering all ExtRom cabs for all of the carriers. I believe I have all of the Telus cabs linked.

I can see all that stuff. Looked through. I understand how to unhide it, but I still can't find a good tutorial for FLASHING the thing, only for making a ROM. I don't want to make a ROM for my first flash in case I screw up. Which would be my best option? I basically want updated programs, and a small speed boost. As a total newbie, what should I do?

just flash any of the available roms. you just want to make sure your Telus cabs get installed to set up needed stuff. if they do not run after the flash, grab them from the thread and run them.
