2D manilla on apache?

has anyone gotten the cab from xda to work on their 6700?

i tried but it keeps telling me to "tap here to start touchFlo"

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

My mogul barely has enough available memory to keep that thing alive. I doubt the apache will be able to hold up under that kind of stress.

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

I tried it a but it'll just sit there trying to load, haven't really played with it though since I don't use my apache anymore.

I too tried this morning... and nothing... It seemed like it couldnt start and would stop. Then ask to be restarted. rinse and repeat.

I am even having a hard time getting it off my phone.

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

I have tried 4 different versions of it, none of them work. I'm moving to a different build to see if that helps. Only way I have found to remove it is hard reset.

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

I just tried installing it with the new kitchen and it still doesn't work. Poop.

Were you running lenny's, HELMI's or something custom when it worked? Also what rom version?

jabu 09-18-2008 07:03 PM

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

I ran three different lenny roms, and helmi's rom. I tried cooking it into the rom, and i tried plain old installing it. I swear, it won't work. I'm guessing its a d3d problem or some sh*t.

LennySH's 19213
LennySH's 19588
helmi_c's 19716
AND
LennySH's 20273
all fail.

jabu 09-18-2008 07:08 PM

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

I wish I could force that d3d driver in to see if that has anything to do with it. But it f*cks up every time I try to manually shove it in there....

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

Anybody notice that this is included oem in 20748? I'm trying now, i'll keep you informed of my disappointment.

mikeklemz 09-19-2008 12:39 PM

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

yeah, the oem made no difference. I tried installing the D3D cab to see if it would help; it didn't. oh well.

jabu 09-19-2008 02:23 PM

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

I tried on 20748 also, no luck.

shawn 09-22-2008 06:37 PM

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

Same here. No luck. Tried the latest release with a Lenny custom rom. All I could get was tap here to start, but nothing happens. Gave up and did a hard reset.

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

Verizon vz6700, with Helmi_C's baked ROM WM6 pro.
Followed procedures to a T. Yes it's there. selected in the today settings.
Yes, it's SLOW (no go wanna go back home, HTC home that is) Delete.
The hard reset that it took to do it was good for the old guy though. Just did a hard reset to get rid of all the apps that was included. Still some residual on the storage card.
Too slow on this geriatric phone. But who knows maybe I'll end up keeping it another three years if VZ screws with the (name anyone) Diamond, Pro, HD.
So forget it. If you don't mind the lack of keyboard and no WiFi, Best buy has the HTC touch for $49 (with new sign-up) and I think $165 basic upgrade. My son has that one and Manilla works awesome. Fast

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

They released new instructions/cabs. I'm going to give it a shot once I get 20748 to run properly.

This doesn't make sense for two reasons.
1) xda specifically says to use WM6.1, that 6 won't work.
2) Each build I did, I followed the instructions exactly. Not one of them worked.
So please, by all means, tell us which M2D release works with WM6. I'm not worried about speed, I can tweak it later.

I told myself I was tired of resetting my phone, and giving up on Manilla 2d, but I came across this thread...

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=38596

Haven't given it a shot yet, but just wanted to throw it out there, because I've been following this thread and a lot of others closely, and this is the firs thing that looks promising..

So are you saying that you baked it into a ROM with a kitchen? I created some oem's for my Helmi's_C and that was easy. But I don't want to go through all of this if it just runs slow. I did the cab and it showed up OK. Just didn't move with my fingers for a couple seconds. I took it off. Now this new dev. is interesting. Just wanted a clarification of your term "make it to oem".
Thanx

edit. any links to a "read me" file for this. or description of baking as an oem in ppckitchen. I've baked before, just wanted a back-up instruction for this in case there was some different procedures. Also, honestly, is it slow? I noticed on the youtube video that there was a little hang-up leaving the today screen. after that it moved fairly fast. But I hate hang-ups bad (type A personality) Also, do you need to leave off almost everything else to get memory for this? And finally, which version of Opera will need to be included?
Actually, anybody have a ROM for this for the apache?????? I'd rather just do that :)

dennygun 09-30-2008 10:05 PM

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

from the recent PPCkitchen_OEM already have that OEM, I just extracted the new cab released from XDA Dev and replace all the file in the OEM, and that's it. The reason I did this is to have more space in the Apache.

thanks - hows the speed for you?

Maxx134 10-03-2008 05:01 AM

Re: 2D manilla on apache?

I have been at this fow a while.
newer releases of manila on the site did nothing to help with speed for the apache.
It all depends on available Program memory
Apache always uses 25 or more, leaving you with 20 or less.
manila2D uses up at least 10 with necesary prog added.
if you have less than 8meg mem then it will crawl or not be able to open pics or music.
I dont undertand how mogul owners get it going unless they hav more program mem.

my next step is to see which 6.1 kitchen will give me more mem to run it .
looks like Helmi has most available Program mem so going to cook it now with that .

no sleep for me :p
