Battery / Charging Issue

I am having an issue with my 6700. This unit is about 3 days old. I have no custom rom. The only thing I have added to it that I can think may affect me is "PPC-6700 Hacks" (which I would love some documentation for if you have some)

My problem is the battery doesn't seem to know what is going on when I plug it in. This problem doesn't happen all the time but sometimes I will plug in the phone and it will not register that it's charging. The icon still shows the battery is low and does not change to the "charging" icon.

I'm honestly not sure if it is actually charging but not saying so or not. Usually a soft reboot fixes the issue but it may occur the next time I plug it in.

I have also seen some really short battery lifes on a full charge. I suspect that is because I have everything in the world turned on at once (wifi, bluetooth, evdo)
I also have it set to not turn off with inactivity (it turns the screen off but not the entire phone per the option in power settings ) I set that because it seemed like it took forever to wake up when the option to turn off was enabled and I was worried that I wasn't getting my email pushed to me when the phone was "off".

I have ordered an extended battery I hope that will help.

Any ideas or is this typical?

I have noticed similiar issues on my ppc6700 as well, however, these issues, for me, only seem to happen when I am not using the AC charger that came with the phone or charging via USB. Meaning, I have an old motorola mini usb cig adapter or even my solio, and I get the same issue you describe above. A little trick I have used that seems to be repeatable, is to sleep the device (hit the power button) and then plug in your charger and for me, then that little amber light lights, it wakes up, the phone registers it's charging and away I go.

It appears to be, perhaps a charging current issue, but I haven't debugged it enough. I've got a few hypothesis, but not worth posting at this time.
Hope it helps.
Brian

Your battery life problems are definitely related to keeping the phone from suspending and from active use of EV-DO and Wi-Fi (which are both huge power draws).
